A-Tool SECTION: Tools and Equipment ISSUED: 02-2011 REVISED: ##-#### Objectives • To provide an understanding of the following – Specifications – Use – Maintenance – Safety Specifications • High strength steel • A-type lock puller • Pry bar formed on opposite end • 17” long • Key tool stored in the foam grip Use • “Through the lock” forcible entry • Used with a striking tool • Pulls lock cylinders • Light weight pry bar – Opens doors, windows, etc. Maintenance • • • • • Check overall condition and file any burrs Remove rust with wire wheel or brush Clean with warm soapy water Dry thoroughly Apply a thin coat of WD40 to any non painted metal surfaces Safety • Wear appropriate PPE – Minimum of helmet, gloves, and eye protection • Full turnouts and SCBA are required when utilizing tool in an IDLH atmosphere or when gaining entry into a possible IDLH atmosphere • Check surroundings prior to using tool • Ensure the tool is the right tool for the job
