The Opportunity • To harness the nation’s wide-ranging community of entrepreneurial women into an ever-more-influential voice and increasingly dynamic leadership roles. • NAWBO is poised to significantly expand its influence and increase its ability to serve the rapidly growing women’s business community. 2012 Strategy/Priorities (1) Increase organizational productivity. (2) Establish a fundraising strategy and begin executing on it to support strategic priorities. Identify new channels of revenue and cultivate new funding sources. (3) Re-engage NAWBO’s involvement and influence in the public policy sphere—reactivate PAC and roll out highimpact advocacy and public policy engagement platform. Priorities continued… (4) Continuously improve all levels of operational systems. (5) Identify and recruit seasoned board members that are aligned with NAWBO’s long-term vision. (6) Strengthen the National/Chapter business model. (7) Financial results management—continuously make decisions based on highest ROI through all levels of the organization. Top Top Priorities (1) Raise Visibility/Awareness (2) Membership Development (3) Grow Revenues Raise Visibility/Awareness Take positions on policy issues such as: • Identify key issues that NAWBO can support. • Use social media such as Facebook and Twitter to build support for our issues. – we are currently interviewing public policy firms to support this effort. • Join coalitions and develop partners that support issues that directly affect our members. Example: U.S. Chamber Small Business Summit Raise Visibility/Awareness • Continue to develop research and data regarding women entrepreneurs and business owners that advocate for our members. Example: American College • Place Op-ed’s of NAWBO members in regional papers on issues of importance. • Identify media opportunities to raise the profile of NAWBO members in their communities. Membership Development • Engage on a regular basis with President’s Assembly and chapters. Example: national participation in monthly webinars • Identify ways to provide support and ongoing interaction with National and chapters. • Address organization issues with tools such as healthy chapter surveys. • Identify new audiences to increase membership through partnerships, using social media and leveraging local chapters role in the community. Includes younger women, women of color and international womenowned businesses. Grow Revenues • Solidify current corporate partners engagement • Identify new corporate partners • Identify new channels of revenue (American College, Direct Incorporation) • Develop an Affinity Program • Cultivate new funding sources (Foundations) • Review membership categories and create potential new categories • Utilize NAWBO Institute and programs to increase revenue.
