Why is it IMPORTANT to have these things in our
relationships?
Relationship Issues: What would you do?
1. Little brother is annoying you while your friends
are over.
2. You feel like your teacher is “picking on you”
for misbehaving when you’re not.
3. Your friend is mad because you won’t see the
movie that he wants to see.
4. Your baseball coach put you in leftfield when
you feel you should play shortstop.
5. You heard your friend is talking about you
behind your back.
How to Handle Difficult
Situations (Relationships)
• Listen to what the person is saying.
• Express how you feel and what you think.
• Start with “I”.
• Talk calmly; Try not to argue or always have to
prove your point.
• Try to come up with a “COMPROMISE”.
• Keep the relationship in check: This person
shouldn’t be taking advantage of you or vise
versa.
• Have a mutual respect for one another.
FAMILY
• Family is the Basic Unit of Society.
TYPES OF FAMILIES
• Nuclear Family: Two Parents and one or more
children.
• Couple Family: Two people who do not have children.
• Single-Parent Family: Child or children live with only
one parent.
• Blended Family: People have been married before
marry each other. One of both may have children
from a previous marriage.
• Extended Family: Nuclear or single-parent family plus
other relatives; aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins.

Friend
• LOYALTY: A friend
sticks up for you.
• RELIABILITY: You
can count on your
friend.
• SYMPATHY: They are
aware of how you’re
feeling.
• CARING: They only
want the best for you.
• What is a BULLY? A bully is anyone who targets
others with negative actions.
• What are these NEGATIVE ACTIONS?
• Hitting/physical violence
• Practical jokes
• Making fun of someone
• Isolating/shunning others
• Talking badly behind others backs
• Cyber bullying
• Dirty looks
• Calling others names
WWYD? BULLYING
• A student is hit or punched by another two
students at his locker almost everyday.
• You overhear someone threatening another
student several times during the school day.
• A bully makes another student hand over his
lunch money everyday.
• You heard a kid on your bus say he’s bringing
a weapon to school to fight a bully.
• A student always sits alone at lunch; others
throw things at him.
• A bully calls you a name when you try to
defend your friend.
How to Deal with BULLYING
• It’s about ATTITUDE: Hold your head up high,
show confidence, self-esteem.
• IGNORE the Bully: Old advice, but the truth is,
bullies love a reaction!
• ADULTS HELP!: You’re not tattling, you’re just
letting someone know what’s going on. Keep them
informed, they can help!
• SAFETY in NUMBERS: The more friends you
surround yourself with, the less of a chance you’ll
be bullied.

• Be Assertive! STAND UP FOR YOURSELF!:
First reaction is to defend yourself physically, try to use
your words and personality to get out of the
situation. Fighting satisfies the bully and will land
you in trouble. Don’t back down, get help!
• Lots of times, fighting will just breed more fights!
• DON’T BE A BULLY YOURSELF!
• Be aware of your actions; “do unto others” that’s the
GOLDEN RULE!
• It will save you time, grief, trouble, and maybe even
your life!
• What is Peer Pressure?
When someone around your age makes you do something that goes
against your will.
• Are there types of Peer Pressure?
There are Negative pressures and Positive pressures.
Positive peer pressure is when someone tries to get you to do
something that is good for you.
Negative peer pressure is when someone tries to get you to do
something that can harm you or others.
