Examples of the Centre’s activities The Higher Education Academy Formed in May 2004 Funded by grants from the four UK funding bodies and subscriptions from higher education institutions. The Academy's mission is to help institutions, discipline groups and all staff to provide the best possible learning experience for their students. What are Subject Centres? Accessible through our website Educational resources database Assessment methods Employability and Key skills information Resources to use in teaching with students For example images and simulations Introductions • Introduce yourself to the person sat next to you – Where are they from? – Which subject area do they work in? – How long have they been a demonstrator? Sharing Existing Practice • What is a demonstrator? Can you describe what you do? – The different roles you perform as a demonstrator – Problems or issues that you have arisen – Who is there to help you Being a demonstrator a person responsible for the supervision of students in practical classes and for assisting students in the performance of tasks which have been devised by members of the academic staff.
