Supporting learning and teaching
What are Subject Centres?
Subject Centres are a UK-wide initiative supported by the four Higher Education Funding Councils in order to
enhance the student learning experience. They work with departments and individuals who support student
learning. They provide discipline specific support for discussion, dissemination and innovation in all aspects of
learning, teaching and assessment.
What is the Subject Centre Network?
There are 24 Subject Centres, covering all disciplines within Higher Education, together they form the
Subject Centre Network. The Subject Centres are based at Higher Education Institutions across the UK

and learning in higher education.
