The primary purpose of the CELTT program is
to foster individualized interaction between a
US Army ROTC Cadet and a host-country
military partner in the medium of the English
Language.

The host-country participants will be
screened using a retired ALCPT

Placed in one of three levels

Have contact with up to 3 ROTC Cadets
(over a nine-week period)

ROTC Cadet and Host-Country Partner will have:
◦ Up to five hours of interaction per day
◦ Five days a week
◦ For three-week rotations
◦ Total up to 75 hours of contact



The manual will not be English language
training (ELT) resources per se.
Manual will focus on facilitating interactive
communication based upon military and
cultural topics
Content will be re-purposed from existing
ALC Books or other curriculum (LEAC)
materials

DLI textbook

Estimate 16 Military and Cultural Topics

2 topics per day

4 days per week

1 day per week review/summary

Estimate 48 total topics over 3 weeks

Word lists

Reading passages and comprehension questions

Language activities

Questions for discussion

Language-related appendices










Familiarize Cadets with CELTT Resource Manual

Act as EFL/ESL resource for language issues

Observe participant discussions and provide guidance for
enhanced interaction

Provide formal instruction as necessary to initiate/facilitate
learning experiences
◦ Liaise with all stakeholders
◦ Build rapport with Cadets
◦ Work closely with partner-nation ELT managers/POCs
