Multimedia Animation Using PowerPoint Danny Maas Agenda • View, learn and practice various PowerPoint animation techniques – PowerPoint Built-in Animation – Key frame Animation – ‘Flash Once’ Why Would We Do This? • A different way for kids to communicate • Demonstrating understandings of concepts meaningfully • Student motivation • Can be time consuming PowerPoint’s Built-in Custom Animation Right-click on a picture and choose ‘Custom Animation’. Click the ‘Add Effect’ button to choose an effect and make further selections from the ‘Modify effect’ section. Click the ‘Play’ button in the bottom right to test out your animation! Multiple effects can be added to a single image, and you can rearrange the order of each animation or delete certain animations. Use the selection tool to isolate the sprite you want. Copy paste back into PPT http://sprites.fireball20xl.com/ Doing a Google search for ‘sprites’ works well You’ll need to ‘eyeball’ where to place each sprite, and one sprite per slide If you have a color background, open the ‘Picture’ toolbar, choose the ‘magic wand’ and click on the sprite’s background to make it transparent Flash Once Animation • • • • • • Once your image is in the slide, right-click and choose ‘Custom Animation…’ Choose the entrance (green star) effect ‘Flash Once’ From the custom animation menu, choose the ‘Timing’ feature of that particular ‘Flash Once’ animation Start ‘After Previous’ and initially choose speed ‘0.5 seconds (Very Fast)’ Change the 0.5 to about 0.1 seconds, then ‘OK’ Now copy paste this image (and therefore its animation settings) on the same screen and use the rotation button (green dot) to move it around the screen.
