Commissioning Needs
• Decay solenoid:
— Burnt-out decay solenoid chiller fan not yet been replaced.
— Solenoid now virtually at room temperature.
— Plan for operation of solenoid being drawn up and decision will be made as
to whether to cool down again and run magnet in June in parallel with
painting work in hall, or to wait until this is finished in early July.
• ISIS has had problems starting up and no radiation
survey of DSA has yet taken place. Hope this will take
place today (Monday).
• Infrastructure:
— Work on air conditioning and electrical distribution boards ongoing. Should
be completed early this week.
— Intermediate floor plate now in place and grouted.

Commissioning Needs
• Working target – Stands.
— one in R78 for demo
— one in ISIS for data
Expect two complete target assemblies ready for installation by end July

• Detectors –
— Tracker cryostats
Cryostats 3 and 4 running very stably.
o Malcolm has powered up AFE boards for cryostats 3 and 4, checked that they
initialised correctly and set them to run at 9.0K, which they did with no
problems.
o Craig has started to reinstall alarm systems, should be complete later this week.

Remote readout of temp. and pressure sensors has been set up by Craig and
Linda with help from Malcolm. Needs integrating into EPICS. Pierrik Hanlet is
doing this.
Spare HV power supply that failed (faulty chip) still in Geneva for repair.

Issues
• Documentation inventory/overhaul - ongoing
— Instructions for shifters – old documentation needs updating
— All relevant safety documents needed in one obvious place – if sent to
ME, he will put them on the MICO web page.
• Computing
— Need network connections to progress in Hall
— Still cannot print on OKI printer in R76 but solution found with Kevin
Dunford (cost £150) – AN will give Kevin an order for this.
— Wiring for wireless in R76 installed but still not available.
— Need Windows PC in MLCR – James Leaver has been contacted with
regard to this.
— Need connection to GRID from MLCR – pending
• Need beamline magnets on to test alarm handler
— Since chillers disconnected last week, no water to magnets. Hope to
restore it this week.
— Pierrick Hanlet at RAL from 26 May: will test alarms then.
