expectations;

Include rigorous content and application of
knowledge through high-order skills;
Build upon strengths and lessons of current
state standards;
Are informed by other top performing
countries, so that all students are prepared
to succeed in our global economy and
society; and
Are evidence-based.
The Standards
Priority at the National Level
 35 states surveyed by the Center on
Education Policy expect to implement the
standards no sooner than the 2014-2015
school year, which is also when the CCSS
aligned assessments are expected to be
available.

