Think….Before you put it in the sink. Don’t feed the Grease Goblin Fats, Oils and Grease are produced as a byproduct of cooking in homes and restaurants. “Grease” in the Food Industry comes from butter, lard, vegetable fats and oils, meats, nuts and cereals. “Grease” commonly refers to the fats, oils and waxes found in wastewater. When F.O.G. is disposed of improperly into the sewer collection system, it builds up in the pipes. Over time, F.O.G. accumulates inside pipes reducing the free space and greatly restricting flow. Enforcement of requirements stated in the CFPUA’s collection system permit. Work with the Operations Department in the investigation of F.O.G. related sewer blockages to identify problem areas within our collection system and prevent future SSO’s. Enforce and regulate 668 Food Facilities requiring pump out of grease traps and grease interceptors. Educate Food Facilities operators through bi-annual inspections and distribution of F.O.G. Educational Booklets. Maintain Grease Interceptor database which is used to track compliance with grease trap and interceptor service requirements. Take enforcement actions when necessary to ensure compliance with local, state and federal ordinances Distribute educational materials to residential customers. Control F.O.G. at the source to reduce collection system maintenance costs. Prevent costly SSO’s. Minimize our impact on the Environment. Educate the public and commercial businesses of their responsibilities as contributors to the CFPUA’s collection system. Think….Before you put it in the sink. Don’t feed the Grease Goblin
