Entry wound:
Contact shot • No Scorching, blackening or tattooing.
• The wound may be triangular, stellate or
cruciate with everted edges due to blow back.
• Tissues may appear cherry pink in colour due to
carbon monoxide.
• Muzzle imprint may be seen.

Close Shot (Within 3 Inches for pistols
& revolver. Rifles <8 inches) • Wound is circular with inverted edges.
• There will be scorching ( singeing ), blackening,
tattooing
• Abrasion ( contusion ) collar due to impact of
spinning bullet.
• Grease collar are seen due to grease rubbed off
from bullet.

• Free from signs of burning, blackening,
tattooing, abrasion collar, grease collar
• Everted irregular edges, bigger than missile
• Atypical abrasion(shored exit wound)
• Fibres of clothes maybe turned out
• More bleeding at the exit
