 Blocked pipes
With each use, scale is deposited on the walls of pipes, thereby reducing their useful diameter
exponentially. Since the previous layer which acts as a base, clings to the next, the flow simply
gets progressively worse.
 Nauseating smells
Scale of a urinary origin is also the cause of nauseating smells
which are a source of discomfort to users.
 Limited remedial measures
 Progressive deterioration of the facility
 Excessive repair costs
As horizontal pipes experience a rate of flow that is, by definition, slower than that of vertical
ones, they fur up more quickly. Their small diameter makes them even more susceptible to
this problem. By the time you notice the slowing down of their rate of flow it is often too late
to proceed with manual cleaning (pipe configuration permitting).
Furthermore, since the pipes are mostly pvc, they do not stand up to mechanical cleaning
or high pressure jets. More often than not, this results in the straightforward replacement
of the pipe concerned. That can mean having to break through a partition wall to undertake
the task.
In the short and long term the costs for this additional work far exceed the budgets allocated
for maintenance and become the subject of overtime work (o/t)..

Requires the use of products whose production has a strong environmental impact.
In addition, the obligation to recover and treat acids and waste through a process
of neutralisation involves the use of highly alkaline products (pH 14) and creates substantial
pollution.

 High pressure, very high pressure and mechanical descaling:
As the equipment is rigid, it damages and affects the internal surface of the pipes in a
permanent and significant manner. Subjected to very high pressure, they are susceptible to
weakening and causing leaks which can damage the facilities and spread bad smells.
The consequence is major costs in terms of repairs as well as compensation for the damage
done to tenants’ facilities.
Moreover, these procedures can mostly only be used in vertical pipes (cast iron, etc.), leaving
horizontal pipes to become more and more furred up to the point where entire sections have
to be replaced, incurring heavy additional costs and partial disabling of the facility concerned.
Applying these methods requires the use of motorised engines (lorries, compressors, etc.)
Which produce large quantities of co2. At the end of the chain, the transport and
reprocessing of the limescale waste also have grey energy consequences for the environment.
These procedures, whilst being effective, though far-removed from the concept
of eco-responsibility, are leaving a lasting negative footprint that will be
a legacy for future generations.

 Bacteria
Benefitting from continuous strides in research, biological products have made
spectacular progress. Initially a “luxury” product, they have become very affordable
and are able to deal very effectively with limescale problems.
Our bacteria originate from multiple strains selected by our scientists and are the most
effective and economical tools to use.
Based on qualitative criteria that comply with the specifications for waste water/black
water pipes, our bacteria are cultivated for the sole purpose of digesting limescale in all
its forms. Whereas some bacteria digest limestone, others attack the various forms of
calcification to be found in pipework.
 Gently does it
Once in place, these bacteria will get to work on the layer of limescale coating the pipe. They will
digest this layer, converting it into h2o and co2. Being alive, they will reproduce, thereby increasing
the number of “workers”. At the end of their life, the bacteria are in their turn converted into water
and carbon dioxide.

Because of the way they are deployed, the bacteria will work from the most recent layers to the
oldest layer, thereby avoiding the breaking away of pieces of limescale which might obstruct the flow.
These pieces (or chunks) can fall a distance of several metres and smash the cast iron elbow at the
foot of the column.

sumps
Our bacteria create a biofilm which carpets the pipe walls while ingesting and converting the
limescale build up. Your pipe system thus becomes a kind of processing factory.

Totally biodegradable, our bacteria are a viable and eco-friendly solution. Their use is allowing
significant progress to be made in the direction of the ISO 14001 and HQE standards in compliance

The main places where grease concentrates in the kitchen are
the dishwasher, washing up sinks and big horizontal pipes
fitted with u-bends for collecting grease from large cooking
utensils (steam ovens, frying pans, deep fryers, grills, sauce
boats, etc.).
 Blocked pipes – Nauseating smells
Grease, though fluid when it’s hot, quickly solidifies when it comes into contact with the cold
surfaces of the pipes and the grease tank that creates solidified deposits which hamper the flow
of fluids.
The sulphides generated by the uncontrolled deterioration of these deposits are what cause the
nauseating smells.
 Congestion – Overspill
The grease contained in the tank forms a crust which causes
congestion and subsequent overspill making it necessary to pump
the tank out and clean it too regularly.
 Deterioration of the lifting pumps
Since a grease tank cannot collect all of the grease, some of it solidifies
downstream from the tank causing blockages in the pipes leading to the lifting
sumps, sometimes even impairing the proper functioning of the pumps to the
extent they seize up completely.

 Regular pumping out
Because the grease builds up and hardens in the tanks, it is vitally
important to have lorries fitted with pumps call regularly to take this
waste debris away.
It will then be transported to reprocessing units.
 Manual and hydro-mechanical cleaning
Once the tanks have been emptied, the pipes then have to be cleaned out from the kitchen
outlet points (dishwasher, washing up sinks, floor U-bends, etc.) to the grease trap and,
depending on the configuration, the lifting sumps.
 Disposal of grease in the sewer
Since the waste water residue is mostly disposed of in the sewer (which is strictly forbidden), the
underground network gets clogged up, obliging the local authority technical services to carry out
large-scale cleaning operations. These measures have exorbitant financial consequences and in
most cases lead to an investigation and fine.
In the technical sphere, we all know that a grease trap never captures all of the grease.
 Other residue
The grease disposed of is commonly accompanied by non-organic residue such as: plastic film, linen of all types,
glass and porcelain debris, small items and kitchen utensils. This rubbish made up of non-degradable materials
naturally has to be removed.
These procedures, whilst certainly being necessary, must be kept to a strict minimum
in order to comply as fully as possible with environmental quality guidelines.

They will digest the grease, converting it into H2O and CO2. Being alive, they will reproduce, thereby increasing the

to be disposed of in the sewers. Quite the opposite. Their action will benefit the local authority network where they will

The ISO 14001 standard is an international standard which applies to all types of organisations (industrial and
service companies, communities, etc.) whatever their size or activity. The ISO 14001 standard relates to
environmental management. It was drawn up by the International Organization for Standardization, or ISO.
The basic concept of ISO 14001 is founded on the continuous improvement of environmental performance.
However, unlike ISO 9001 (quality), it does not stipulate requirements in terms of performance levels, but does
commit the company to a policy of pollution reduction and continuous improvement, with an appendix
providing guidelines as to how the standard should be applied.
HQE
Standing for “La Haute Qualité Environnementale*” HQE is an initiative designed to limit the short and long term
environmental impact of a construction or renovation project whilst ensuring sanitary and comfortable living
conditions for the occupants. It gives Project Owners better control of the building process by structuring their
objectives around fourteen targets.
Controlling the impact on the environment outside:
Eco-construction (buildings that blend in with their immediate environment, integrated selection of construction
processes and materials, and low environmental impact building sites) through eco-management (management
of energy and water, as well as waste from operations, servicing and maintenance).
