myOSU Portal
Project Objectives
• Why We’re Creating a Portal
– To make OSU’s web content easy to find
– To reduce application log on frequency
– To help students, especially first-year students, find and
use the right processes and easily see and address issues
– To target communication to appropriate audiences
– To create a strategic and competitive solution for OSU
• Our initial focus is administrative processes, items
people have difficulty finding or using, “must see”
information and items triggering the most calls for help
Positioning
• Oregon State web page is available to the general public and is
OSU’s primary face to the world.
– No logon necessary
• Blackboard is for academic and collaborative work performed
within a group such as a class or club
– communicating with professors, checking assignments, uploading
homework, sharing information among clubs and organizations.
– Logon with ONID required
• myOSU portal is for administrative work and information related to
the university
– paying tuition, viewing and updating personal information, enrolling in
classes, checking graduation requirements, launching applications,
locating links and finding resources.
