Records Retention Requirements

Administrative Items continued:

Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse
- Effective January 1, 2013, Oregon University employees are included as
“mandatory reporters” of child abuse. If you have “reasonable cause to
believe” that any child with whom you come into contact has suffered
abuse, or that any person with whom you come into contact has abused a
child, you must immediately report the suspected abuse or abuser to local
law enforcement or the Oregon Department of Human Services. The
University requires you to also report this information to your supervisor.
Please note that this legal obligation is personal to you, as an employee of
an Oregon higher education institution, and applies 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, and in any location; even if you are not on work time.

Smoking Policy
- As a reminder smoking within 25 feet of OSU-Cascades
building is prohibited.
- Smoking is no longer permitted anywhere on the Oregon State
University Corvallis campus. This includes inside personal vehicles.

Classroom Items continued:
• Campus closures will be determined by 6am the day of and will be posted
on our website and COCC’s website
• In case of an emergency, the evacuation meeting site is in the Barber
Library Parking Lot
• During an emergency situation, faculty is not automatically “in charge”
and does not determines whether students stay or leave the classroom or
building.
• No weapons are allowed in any OSU building. This includes Cascades Hall
and Cascades Graduate and Research Center. A concealed weapons permit
does not allow an individual to possess any kind of weapon.
Pay Day Information:
• Payday is once per month, on the last working day of the month.
• The first check will be a manual check…..and it may be late.
• Direct deposit will not be active for the first check, and perhaps not for the
second check either.
• Instructor salary is based on the working days in a month. Therefore, if
the Fall term contract starts on 9/16, the September paycheck is for
roughly ½ month. If you work 9 days in the Summer term, partially in June
and partially in July, you will get paid on the respective payday for the
working days in each month, again the first check will be late.
