MOU Extending the MFA in Creative Writing from
OSU-Corvallis to OSU-Cascades
Executive Summary:
This proposal seeks to create a 2-year MFA in Creative Writing at OSUCascades that mimics the Advanced Creative Writing workshop side of the
OSU-Corvallis version. This program will be Low-Residency, that is,
students will not need to live in Bend fulltime, and instead will visit Bend four
times in two years to confer face-to-face with their mentors. This is not
meant to duplicate the Corvallis version of the MFA, but to add diversity to it.
Rationale:
This is a degree that is expected to be in demand. It will leverage the
Annual Literary Festival in Bend’s “The Nature of Words” 1 .

MOU Extending the MFA in Creative Writing from
OSU-Corvallis to OSU-Cascades
Issues:
1. Why yet another MFA in Creative Writing? This program is unique.
It will leverage, and contribute to, Bend’s Annual Literary Festival in
The Nature of Words. The festival already attracts well-known authors.
The hope is that those authors would then become mentors for the
program.
2. Quality? This program will not live in a vacuum. Various faculty from
Corvallis will be involved. Also, a board will monitor the quality of the
program.
3. How long is each residency? Nine days -- this lets you only miss
one week of work at a time (Sat-Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun)
CC Vote: The Curriculum Council approved this proposal, with no
dissenting votes.

MOU Extending the BS/BA in Accountancy from
OSU-Corvallis to OSU-Cascades
Executive Summary:
This proposal seeks to create a BS/BA in Accountancy at OSU-Cascades.
Rationale: There is a nationwide need for more accountancy majors. This
is expected to especially be true with the business growth in the Bend area.
Impacts to Students: Only good. For those students living in the Bend
area, this will allow them to earn their degree locally.
