OSU Faculty Senate Diversity Committee
Dwaine Plaza & Evviva Weinraub
The purpose of the Faculty Senate sponsored survey is to explore the current attitudes,
opinions, and experiences of Oregon State University's Affiliate, Research and Tenure track
faculty on a variety of diversity issues.
Last diversity survey done by Rankin Associates for Terrill Ross office. 68 questions.
10 committee members spent the past 8 months coming up with a 23 question instrument
(close ended and open ended questions).
Roll out for Survey will be October 2013
Two weeks for completion of the survey (with reminders)
November/December Analysis of the data collected from the survey
Presentation of a final report to Senate Executive Committee
Hope to use this as a base line survey– regular diversity survey

Demographic Questions: rank, primary position, affiliation, gender, age, self identified marginality

We will ask specific questions about opinions on diversity issues at OSU.
Policy and Practices at the department level, college and university level
Gauging the understanding of diversity at OSU– individual, department and college levels
University and department diversity policies– how aware and supportive are individuals for
these?
How comfortable are individuals with raising concerns about issues such as discrimination,
harassment, or management practices at OSU?
How well does OSU do in terms of Recruitment, Tenure, Promotion, Commitment to
Diversity?
