ACCUPLACER
New Vision
for
Student Success
Global Trends: The U.S.
overall college
completion rates are
middling at best…
Source: National Center for Public Policy and
Higher Education, 2008
Better Preparation:
Too many students need remediation…
Source: Complete College America,
2011
Shifting Demographics:
Nontraditional students are the new majority
Source: Complete College America, 2011
Costs: Increases in college prices have outpaced price
increases in other sectors of the economy

SO....NOW WHAT
and…….
what does this have to do with
ACCUPLACER?
New Vision Goals for Student Success
 Align secondary and postsecondary curricula to reduce remediation and help
prepare students for postsecondary success.
 Provide students, especially underrepresented, low-income and first-generation
college aspiring students, with detailed and immediate, online diagnostic feedback
and academic interventions to reduce remediation:
“What should I study, what am I missing?”
 Allow States and Institutions for the first time to develop individualized student
intervention plans, aligned to the Common Core Standards, that focus on specific
sub-content areas that require improvement.
Develop and promote a “prepared” college going culture for all students
Take Students from I can’t to I CAN go to college!

A personalized study plan has been created for you based on your ACCUPLACER
test results. Within 24 hrs you will receive an email with your log in credentials
and instructions on how to access your personalized study plan. If you have not
provided an accurate email address please. See your proctor to update your
information.
Students enter the remediation tool. Click on the Learning Path.
Students will see a personalized Learning Path showing where they need
extra practice.
They determine which module they want to work on first; reading, writing
or math.
Within each module are a series of topics. The student can:
…work through the activities for the module topics that include:
…reading…
…writing…
…videos…
…animations…
…practice assignments…
…with immediate feedback.
Multiple Learning Modules to Help
Student Learn the Concept, Practice,
Build Confidence and Receive Guided
Feedback Specific to EACH Student
And the assignments include a variety of learning aids for justin-time help.
As students complete each topic, their progress
shows on the learning path. (stars = mastery, pencils = work
to achieve mastery)
Students can demonstrate topic mastery by taking a post-test with a
mastery score or achieving a mastery score on all activities. (This is an
instructor setting.)
There is also a focus on study skills.
Educators and administrators can track each student’s progress
in the online gradebook.
What is Tracked in the Gradebook?
Item Analysis
Grades as Points
Grades as Percentages
Progress
Measure by Standards
Time on Task
