Kids Against
Hunger
MONTE STEWART FROM CHEROKEE, OKLAHOMA GIVES US THE
OPPORTUNITY TO HELP MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO ARE HUNGRY
Packaging Meals
Many students, teachers, and parents got together in
the Waller Cafeteria after school to put rice, soy protein,
and flavorings into vacuum packed meals that will serve
6 people. About 70 people worked for 2 hours to
package 1,600 meals. It was an amazing experience
and it was fun!
Wanting to Do More
After we helped package meals for Kids Against Hunger,
we wanted to do more to help hungry people. These
boxes of meals go the places all over the world, but
some stay right here in the United States, in Oklahoma,
and even in Enid. So we decided to have a fundraiser
to actually purchase more food so it can be distributed
to those who need it most.
Valentine's Dance
We decided to have the first ever dance at Waller
Middle School. Since Valentine's Day was on a Friday
this year, we asked teachers and parents to chaperone
a Valentine's Day Dance to raise money for Kids Against
Hunger. It was a huge success and raised over $600 to
feed hungry people. It was also fun! We are definitely
going to do it again this year.
