A common subject for technical background examinee. Various domain knowledge in information technology and electronic engineering. A heavy burden to many examinee. My teaching project Features of my students. How the teaching is conducted? Cooperative Learning with a Facebook closed group. Brief introduction of my students Higher educated with information technology or electronic engineering background. Geographically distributed, ages from 20~50, and have strong learning motivation. How the teaching is conducted? Students are scattered nationwide. The course is conducted via in-class and video teaching. For better learning effect, an auxiliary learning mechanism to answer questions from students is necessary. Paradigm shift: From Centralized to Distributed Centralized: Client-Server model. – By email or face to face after school. – A heavy burden to many teachers. Distributed: P2P model. – By social networking services, such as Facebook. – Learn from each other, Cooperative learning. – Teacher’s role, shifts from answering questions to facilitating discussion and giving hands to individual just in time. Cooperative Learning with a Facebook closed group General conditions: – Post their problems in the group. – Generally, students share learning experiences with each other, and both asker and respondent benefits. – Teacher intervenes, if no one responds. Individual needs: – Some times, they needs individual help. – Chat with them via Facebook message. Cooperative Learning with Facebook, for General Cooperative Learning with Facebook, for General(cont.) Cooperative Learning with Facebook, for Individual Cooperative Learning with Facebook, Individual(cont.) What’s Next? GUO,FANG-JYUN, one of my students, suggests an adaptive learning diagnose system with intelligent online test is what they really need. Key points of the system: – Analysis of the test banks, we can grasp the domain knowledge for specific test. – Analysis of the learning state, students can learn more efficiently. Summary Facebook closed group is easy, but I believe the simplest method is always the most feasible method. Digitize all my documents with a consistent format is time consuming, but it is essential for e-learning and return on investment is high. Q&A [email protected]
