PERCEIVED HIGH PERFORMANCE WORK SYSTEM AND INDIVIDUAL CREATIVITY PERFORMANCE IN WORK TEAMS Y. H. Chiang and C. C. Hsu Abstract High performance work system refers to a set of coherent human resource management practices that companies can implement with their workforce to expect better performance. This study complements the relevant literature by examining the relationship of high performance work system with another work result: individual’s creativity performance. Surveying data from new product development team in Taiwanese companies, we find workers’ perceived high performance work system relates positively to their domain knowledge and intrinsic motivation for the job. We also find that domain knowledge and intrinsic motivation mediate the relationship between high performance work system and workers’ creativity performance.The significance and limitations of our study are discussed.
