Commander’s Corner
Your Post Chaplain, Del Murray, has had to resign his duties as he has to take over as the Minister for a
church in Alabama which lost their Minister. Thanks for all you have done for Post 240 Del. So, anyone
wishing to run for the Post Chaplain, please come to the October’s General Membership meeting to be
nominated and elected. Del was my VA Donuts guy also. Kim Edens, Unit 240 President, has volunteered
to take over the VA Donuts on the 3rd Thursday. Thank you Madam President. Thank you Stu Baker for
your help conducting the 9-11 Ceremony. Please come support the Legion Family’s Oktoberfest on October
8, 2011. Anyone wishing to get a copy of the Department of Florida’s Disaster Planning Guide, please see
me or the Adjutant. Due to the fact the 1st Vice’s Computer broke and can’t get the mailing out on time, we
are changing the Early Bird Dinner to a Member Appreciation Day with Chicken and Pot Luck.

1st Vice Cdr -Membership is looking good. I encourage everyone to renew as soon as you can. It helps the
Post look good that we can meet goals that are set down from those higher than us. Post the calendar on
your fridge or somewhere convenient because things are going to be happen pretty fast from now until the
end of the year. With the help of Marsha Martin we are going to raffle off five (5) $100 VISA gift cards on
Veterans Day. Tickets will be 1 for $10. Also this year we are again going to have our “Sponsor a Service
Member” drive. Those Legionnaires wishing to sponsor, cost will be $25 per individual. This is a great
chance for us to not only build our membership, but also to let these young service members know what the
American Legion does for them on a daily basis. This program was a success last year and I don’t expect it
to be any less this year. We are having our Membership Appreciation Day on Sun 23 Oct 11. Let’s not forget
all the Holidays and functions coming up. Please support your Post. For God and Country - Mouse.
Unit 240 Auxiliary -Theme for this year is L.E.A.P. Learn all the programs Energize new
membership Applications keep with you to sign new members Please smile have fun. We are
having a membership challenge between Districts 1 and 16, which every districts looses has to pay $10.00
per unit, so let’s all work on getting new members and encourage renewing members to pay dues. We
voted 4 new members in lasted meeting, let’s make them feel welcome. I would like to say THANK YOU to
all who help with the cakes and cake sells for the bingo on Wednesday nights. Oktoberfest will be on the
8th, come out and show your support. 29th of October will be the children’s Halloween party from 12 to 2. If
you would like to help with setting up we will be decorating at 9 am on the 29th. Donation of candy or toys
is appreciated. Ginny will be selling pumpkins this month starting on the 1st. Lounge bingo did very well
considering the tropical storm, thank you all who came out. Thank you to the volunteers and callers.

Greetings Riders,
I would like to thank all the people that came out to support our Bike Night dinners.
Our next Bike Night will be October 20th and will feature Chili. Don’t forget that the
8th of October will be Oktoberfest and the riders will be selling Jell-O Shooters, so
come on out and have some fun.
For God and Country, Rich Raborn Director
We are averaging about 69 people each Wed. night.
Unfortunately, we need about 71 players to break even. Therefore, we are not
making the money we used to. Please bring a friend and come Play Bingo.
