Commander’s Corner
The holidays are upon us. Both the Oktoberfest and the Saturday Night Dance were terrific! If you missed these events you missed a great time. Please come out and join us for our many upcoming events in November and December. Please remember to keep our troops in your thoughts and prayers and remember to thank our veterans.

Our current Membership numbers are at 56%. Department of Florida’s next goal for us is 65% by November 4, 2009. Please welcome the following new Members: David Gregg, David Booker, Wesley Derrick, Casey Hager, David Sanford, Byron Pitts. Also welcome the new transfers: Douglas Stearns, David Fitzgerald, Cecil Russel, Ercle McBee. This brings our membership to 668 paid. Need 508 more for 100%. Please come in and see me or the Adjutant to renew your dues for 2010. The Early Bird Dinner is November 1, 2009 at 4:00PM. Menu is Baked Chicken; 1 Leg and Thigh, Green beans, Rice & Gravy w/Roll. If your membership card is stamped early bird, dinner is free. I will be taking dues until we start serving. Otherwise, dinner is $5.00. Please come out and support your Post. Oktoberfest was very successful, each group made $193.00. Thanks for your support. I’m going to be the Chairman for the Singles Thanksgiving Dinner on November 26 at 12:00PM. There is a sign up sheet in the Lounge for side items and helpers. I’m going to need a lot of help with this as we will have about 50 young sailors from NAS along with our members to feed and entertain. Please let me know what you can do to help.

Hello Riders, We had a great Oktoberfest thanks to Margaret, Donnie, Sylvia, Cindy, Paula and Bud for the great Jell-O Shooters. I would like to thank all the riders for the great job at our 7 th Annual Poker Run, especially to Cindy Kroncke for all her time and hard work. November 11 th is Veterans Day, all riders who would like to be in the downtown parade, line up is at 08:00, parade at 9:00. Nov. 14 or 21 st is the tour of Winery Ride to Defuniak Springs, meet at 0830, KSU at 0900. Come ready for a great day.
Nov. 26, Thanksgiving day, the troops are coming and we have been asked by the Post to help, so please sign up to cook, serve or clean, remember it’s all for the troops.
Don’t forget to purchase a Wreath, deadline Nov. 20, 2009.

The Oktoberfest was a great success!! Everyone had a fun day. I want to thank all the ladies who donated goodies for our cake walk and participated in the events of the day.
Don’t forget our annual yard sale 21 Nov starting at 8 AM. We still need items for sale. If you have anything to donate give me a call at 944-7741 to arrange for pickup.
The Legion family is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Singles Dinner again this year. Anyone wishing to donate food for this event please list what you would like to bring on the sign up sheet in the Lounge or call the Post at 455-6111.
