Is a relatively new material produced by Milliken
and Company

The company’s goal was to make a material that
has similar characteristics to carbon fiber with
out the expensive price tag associated with
carbon fiber.

Tegris has approximately 70% of the strength of
Carbon fiber with only 10% the cost.


How its made




Is made from polypropylene tape yarn with a highlydrawn core for strength properties within a lower
melt polymer matrix for composite processing
The tape yarn is woven into fabric or sheets.
Then it is pressed together with a mixture of both
heat and pressure using a process called
thermoforming
Can be molded to make just about any shape
