statements:

Technology is a key element in achieving the Green Paper
triangle and hence the proposed Strategic Energy Technology
Plan (SET Plan)

Main EU targets:

20% of greenhouse gas emissions reduction by 2020

20% of energy efficiency improvement by 2020

20% of renewable energy sources in the energy mix by 2020
(With 10% Biofuels in transport)

Energy Theme :
Overall objective
 Adapting the current fossil-fuel based energy system
into a more sustainable one,
less dependent of imported fuels,
based on a diverse mix of energy sources and carriers,
with particular attention being paid to
lower and non-CO2 emitting energy technologies,
combined with enhanced energy efficiency and
conservation.
 To address the pressing challenges of security of
supply and climate change, whilst increasing the
competitiveness of Europe’s industries.

Objectives
“The objective is to support research aiming at
identifying or further exploring new scientific and
technological opportunities in a given field and/or in
combination with other relevant areas and
disciplines, as well as to nurture novel ideas and
radically new uses and to explore new options, in
particular those with a potential for significant
breakthrough ”

Some Advice
•
•
•
•
•
•
Get in touch with your NCP and other intermediaries
For the russian organisations, get in touch as soon
as possible with EU organisations interested to
cooperate and submit a proposal
Look at the EU “List of Projects” and the Technology
Platforms reports
Be aware that drafting a proposal and establishing
the right consortium takes time, particularly as the
EU coordinator
Read carefully the Work Programme (topic, funding
scheme, expected impact, etc.) and other documents
(e.g. guides for applicants)
Do not assume that the independent evaluation
experts know everything you know
