$1,000 is the target amount, no amount is too small – or too large. If you are unable to

CHURCH GOSPEL AND SERMON ETIQUETTE
It is disrespectful to arrive late for Liturgy and walk to a front pew
while our clergy are reading the Gospel or delivering their sermons. It
is also distracting to others who are attempting to concentrate on the
message. If you must enter Liturgy late, you are kindly asked to take a
seat at the very back until the Gospel or sermon are completed.
EPISTLE Hebrews 1:10-14, 2:1-3
I
n the beginning, Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the
work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment,
like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy
years will never end. But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy
enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake
of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have
heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every
transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such
a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who
heard him.
GOSPEL Mark 2:1-12
A
t that time, Jesus entered Capernaum and it was reported that he was at home. And many
were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the
door; and he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed
the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the
paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are
forgiven." Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, "Why does
this man speak thus? It is a blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately
Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why
do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of
man has authority on earth to forgive sins"—he said to the paralytic—"I say to you, rise, take up
your pallet and go home." And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before
them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like
this!"
HOLY EUCHARIST (HOLY COMMUNION)
Holy Communion is a Sacrament within the Orthodox Church and is
only offered to Baptized and/or Chrismated Orthodox Christians who
have prepared themselves to receive the Body and Blood of our Lord
and Savior Jesus Christ. As you come to receive, please follow the
direction of the Parish Council Members, Ushers, and Acolytes. We
remind everyone that the Blessed Bread (Antidoron) offered at the
end of the Divine Liturgy may be received by all.

Saints and Feasts
SAINT GREGORY PALAMAS
This divine Father was reared in the royal court of
Constantinople, where he was instructed in both religious and secular wisdom. While still a youth, he left
the imperial court and struggled in asceticism. He was
present in Constantinople at the Council that was convened in 1341 against Barlaam of Calabria, and at the
Council of 1347 against Acindynus, who was of like
mind with Barlaam; the two claimed that the grace of
God is created. At both these Councils, the Saint contended courageously for the true dogmas of the Church
of Christ, teaching in particular that divine grace is not
created, but is the uncreated energies of God which are
poured forth throughout creation: otherwise it would
be impossible, if grace were created, for man to have
genuine communion with the uncreated God. In 1347
he was appointed Metropolitan of Thessaloniki. He
tended his flock in an apostolic manner for some
twelve years, and wrote many books and treatises on
the most exalted doctrines of our Faith; and having
lived for a total of 63 years, he reposed in the Lord in
1359. His holy relics are kept in the Cathedral of Thessaloniki. A full service was composed for his feast day
by the Patriarch Philotheus in 1368, when it was established that his feast be celebrated on this day. Since
works without right faith avail nothing, we set Orthodoxy of faith as the foundation of all that we accomplish during the Fast, by celebrating the Triumph of
Orthodoxy the Sunday before, and the great defender
of the teachings of the holy Fathers today.
THE HOLY MATRONA OF THESSALONICA
This martyr was the servant of a Jewish woman named
Pantilla, the wife of the Governor of Thessalonica.
When Matrona refused to follow her into the synagogue, Pantilla beat her so severely that she died in a
few days, thus receiving the crown of her confession.

THANKING GOD
As Orthodox Christians, we are called
to a new way of seeing things – a new
way of life. Stewardship is obedience to
the greatest commandment to “love the
Lord with all your heart, soul, mind and
strength.” We are called to bring ourselves and others to commit our lives to
Jesus Christ in such a way that leads us
to the joy of knowing him personally
and profoundly. Thus, the question is
not, “How much do I give to stay in the
club?” or “What are the dues?” The real
question we need to ask ourselves is
“How do I thank God for my many
blessings?”
LEAVE THE REST TO GOD
You cannot do everything, but you can
do something. God wants you to do
your best and leave the rest to him.
Saint Theofan said, “Exert all your
strength, but rest your concern for success on God.” The Lord doesn’t expect
any more from us than what we have to
offer. But He does expect us to be faithful and that we do our very best for
Him. We do our best and leave the rest
to Him.

ST NICHOLAS KITCHEN
St Nicholas Kitchen is an outreach ministry which provides a hot meal
and fellowship to those in need. Volunteers for cooking, serving meals
and cleanup between 8:00 am and 1:00 pm - along with monetary
donations for the purchase of food - are welcome and needed. Remember the book of Matthew 25:35-36: “...For I was hungry and you
gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger
and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick
and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Your assistance helps feed approximately 100 people every Monday. Thank you
for your support. Please call Chris Palaidis at 727-808-3895 for further information.
PASCHAL SEASON DECORATIONS
Parishioners are invited to contribute to help defray the
cost of floral decoration and other supplies needed by our
Cathedral for Great Lent and Holy Week. Kindly drop off
your monetary gift at the parish office or call 727-9373540 to pay by credit card.
JOIN US FOR LENTEN DINNER
Starting this coming Wednesday, March 30, and every
Wednesday evening following the Presanctified Liturgy, we will be offering a Lenten dinner in Fr Tryfon
Hall for all to enjoy. The dinner will be sponsored by
the Order of AHEPA and any proceeds will be donated
to St Nicholas Cathedral.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
This month’s office volunteer spotlight* is on
Evelyn Miller. Once an elementary school teacher,
Evelyn brings to the table a distinct ability to stay
focused during even the busiest of times. She is
dependable, organized, and not afraid to take on
any task, making her a very useful team member
in record-keeping and filing projects. But perhaps
Evelyn’s most characteristic trait is her evergreen
personality. Bubbly, funny and always prepared
to tell a good joke, she lights up the office just by
being there. Evelyn, we thank you for all you do!
