OGGI ENTRIAMO NELLA SETTIMANA SANTA
Oggi, con la Domenica delle Palme,
entriamo nella piu’ sacra delle settimane –
una settimana che ci conduce al Triduo
Pasquale.
RICONCILIAZIONE
I tempi per il sacramento della
riconciliazione sono elencati nella pagina
precedente. Possiamo celebrare il
Sacramento a Our Lady’s, St Ambrose’s o
qualsiasi altra chiesa. Nella chiesa di St
Francis' in Lonsdale Street si offre l’opportunità
quotidiana per la confessione (tranne domenica e
lunedì).
TRASPORTO PER LE CERIMONIE
DELLA SETTIMANA SANTA

della settimana Santa chiediamo gentilmente di
telefonare in casa parrocchiale a Our Lady’s (9380

settimana.

settimana Santa.
dell'anno.
VIA CRUCIS

PROJECT COMPASSION: SESTA SETTIMANA
Ci
sarà una scatola di raccolta sull’altare. Grazie in

parrocchie in Terra Santa. Trovate maggiori
informazioni in bacheca.
richiesta d'asilo, desidera tenersi occupato
e vorrebbe lavorare in giardinaggio, semina,
potatura, ecc.
Chiamate Kazem allo 0470 467 885.
GRAZIE DAL CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE

RESPONSORIAL PSALM
My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?
All who see me deride me.
They curl their lips, they toss their heads.
‘He trusted in the Lord, let him save him;
let him release him if this is his friend.’
Many dogs have surrounded me,
a band of the wicked beset me.
They tear holes in my hands and my feet.
I can count every one of my bones.
They divide my clothing among them.
They cast lots for my robe.
O Lord, do not leave me alone,
my strength, make haste to help me!
I will tell of your name to my brethren
and praise you where they are assembled.
‘You who fear the Lord give him praise;
all children of Jacob, give him glory.
Revere him, Israel’s sons.’

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION
Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ,
king of endless glory!
Christ became obedient for us even to death
dying on the cross.
Therefore God raised him on high
and gave him a name above all other names.
Praise to you …

JESUS’ HUMILITY
On this final Lenten Sunday we look
again at the significance of Christ in our
lives. He has taken the form of a slave;
he has been glorified with a name above
all other names; he continues to suffer
with us. We have not been saved
through military power, but through the
self-offering humility of Jesus. Though he was really in
the form of God, Jesus came in the form of a slave.
We have a saviour who was crushed for our iniquities,
nailed to a cross as a convicted felon, and there
endured the sense of abandonment. In the face of this,
we must ask a fundamental question: Why does God
love us with such abandon? We have a saviour who
was lifted up and exalted precisely because he emptied
himself of his divine prerogatives. He became one of us
in order to show us how we are to live. Unlike
conquerors who triumph by putting down their
opponents, Jesus was raised up because he himself was
first willing to be put down.
LENTEN RECONCILIATION
The times for the Sacrament of Reconciliation are
listed below. We can celebrate the Sacrament at Our
Lady’s, St Ambrose’s or any other church. St Francis’
Church in Lonsdale Street, City, provides daily
opportunities for Reconciliation (except Sunday and
Monday).
VISUAL STATIONS OF THE CROSS
WITH TAIZE MUSIC
On Good Friday at 10.00am in St
Ambrose’s Church the Stations of
the Cross will be presented a little
differently. It will be a visual
presentation using contemporary
images, Scripture readings and Taize chant.
TRANSPORT TO HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES
Those requiring transport to the Holy Week
ceremonies, please ring the Parish
House at Our Lady’s (9380 1844) or
St Ambrose’s (9380 1023) early this
week.
COMMUNION MINISTERS TO THE SICK
Thank you most sincerely to all who have volunteered
to take communion to our sick and elderly
parishioners. There will be a formation session after
Easter.
We have a saviour who first offered himself for us and
then continues to offer himself to us as an example to
follow. As he was willing to empty himself for our
sake, so we are told to empty ourselves for the sake of
others.

HOLY WEEK BEGINS THIS WEEK
Today, with Palm Sunday, we enter this most
sacred week – a week that leads us into the
Easter Triduum, the most important liturgy
of the year. It is a liturgy that lasts three days,
beginning with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy
Thursday evening, taking us through the Solemn liturgy
of Good Friday, and concluding with the Easter Vigil/
Easter Sunday liturgy. With the Easter Triduum we
focus intently on the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Our Lenten journey has helped us to prepare for this
great celebration.
TRAC WITH US FOR HOLY WEEK

PROJECT COMPASSION: WEEK 6
Until recently, people in
Dhaniram’s village were unaware of
the Government’s social security
schemes that support India’s most
vulnerable communities. Since
becoming involved in the ‘Our
Rights’ Project, supported by Caritas Australia,
Dhaniram and his community have learnt about their
rights and have been empowered to speak up for
themselves. Now real change is taking place.
PROJECT COMPASSION BOXES
Please return your Project Compassion boxes and
envelopes on the Sunday after Easter. There will be a
collection box on the sanctuary for these. Thank you in
advance for your generous Lenten contributions to the
work of Caritas Australia.
CHOIR REHEARSALS
The next choir rehearsal for the Holy
Week ceremonies will be this
Wednesday 23 March at 7.30pm in
St Ambrose’s Community Centre (in
the Spirituality Room).

support the Church in the Holy Land in its work of
caring for the biblical shrines, schools, orphanages and
parishes. More information on the noticeboard.
DINNERS IN SMALL GROUPS
The following dates have been proposed
for parish dinners in small groups:
Saturday evenings 30 April,
7 and 21 May. Put one of those dates in
your diary! 7.00pm for 7.30 start. We are
calling for volunteers to host one of the dinners at
your home. These small gatherings of 6 to 8 people
provide the opportunity for parishioners to get to
know one another a little better, and simply to enjoy
each others’ company. If you are able to host a dinner
please contact Annette Tepper on 0434 074 819.
4 MYSTERIES PROJECT
The 4 Mysteries Project is a theatre project which aims
to perform the four gospels. In April there will be four
Saturday sessions:

St Ambrose’s Community Centre

12.00pm – 4.00pm

April 9, 16, 23, 30
At each session we’ll work on a few
scenes from one of the gospels, with a
staged reading at 3.30pm. The Saturday
Sessions are open to anyone who's
interested. For more info: 4mysteriesproject.com.au
Or contact Damian Coleridge 0407 330 404.
NO PILGRIMAGE THIS YEAR
As there were not sufficient numbers to make up a
MacKillop pilgrimage group to Sydney in September, it
was decided to defer the pilgrimage to next year.
Please see Fr Michael if you have any further
suggestions.
VOLUNTEER GARDENER AVAILABLE
Those who attend the 6.00pm Saturday vigil
Mass would know Kazem. While he is
awaiting his asylum seeker residency application to be
processed, he wants to keep busy. He would like to
work in gardening, planting, pruning, etc. If you have a
garden that needs some care, he would be happy to
volunteer his help. Ring Kazem on 0470 467 885.
THANK YOU FROM CORPUS CHRISTI COLLEGE
Last year there was an appeal to raise funds to build
extra rooms at the Seminary in Carlton to
accommodate more seminarians. The Rector of The
College wishes to thank us most sincerely for the
$863.10 that we sent from our parish toward the
building fund. The total raised from Victoria was
$520,388. A great effort!
SLAVERY-FREE EASTER CHOCOLATE
It is estimated that Australians spend
about $2 billion on chocolate over
Easter. Much of this chocolate is made from cocoa
beans picked by enslaved children. Slavery-free
chocolate carries any of the following labels on the
wrapper: Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or UTZ.
PARISH PRAYER FOCUS FOR MARCH

peace in our hearts, within our families and throughout
the world.
