sapienza, eta’ e grazia davanti a Dio e agli uomini'
L'icona
della 'Madonna della tenerezza' sull'altare
raffigura la grande tenerezza tra madre e
bambino. Essa ci ricorda anche il ruolo di
Maria nell'incarnazione. Lei porta in grembo
aiutato a vivere l'Avvento e il Natale a Our Lady’s e St
Ambrose’s.
Avvento e Natale, inclusi i nostri musicisti e coristi. Siamo

09.15 a Our Lady’s

10.30 a St Ambrose’s
periodo dell'anno. Quindi chiediamo a quei lettori e
di Our Lady of the Immaculate
Conception a Sunshine. Ci lascerà il 3
febbraio.
sacerdotale.

(Clarettiani), verra’ trasferita in Germania! Siamo molto
con noi, Sr Julita lavorava part-time in St Ambrose’s. I 5
St Ambrose’s e Our Lady’s. Sr Julita continuera’ a lavorare
nella parrocchia fino all'inizio di febbraio. La saluteremo
formalmente domenica 7 febbraio. Ulteriori dettagli
l’anno prossimo.

grato. Contattate Fr Michael al 9380 1023.

O blessed are those who fear the Lord
and walk in God’s ways!
By the labour of your hands you shall eat.
You will be happy and prosper.
Your wife like a fruitful vine
in the heart of your house;
your children like shoots of the olive,
around your table.
Indeed thus shall be blessed
the one who fears the Lord.
May the Lord bless you from Zion
all the days of your life.

A VERY REAL FAMILY
Anyone who has temporarily
lost their child in a crowd
knows the stabbing pain of
uncertainty and fear. Even more
real, and occurring more often,
is the adolescent impatience of
Jesus: ‘Did you not know I must
be about my Father’s business?’
Every parent, bewildered and saddened by the
growing up and the growing distance of a son
or daughter, knows what Mary and Joseph
must have felt.
By the time Mary and Joseph found Jesus, he
had found the words to express his unique
identity. In this little scene so full of pathos and
heartbreak, we hear the first words of Jesus in
Luke’s Gospel: ‘Did you not know I must be
about my Father’s business?’
What was his ‘Father’s business’ which was so
engaging for Jesus? To draw every human
being into the same familial relationship with
the Father as he enjoys.
… We could take a moment to pray for the
integrity which will enable us to express this
sense of identity in the unfolding of our lives.
We can pray also for those saddened or
bewildered by our following of the One who
taught us to pray ‘Our Father’.
— Fr Michael Tate
GROWING IN INTEGRITY
We learn from today’s Gospel
that Jesus, as he grew older,
‘increased in wisdom, in
stature, and in favour with God
and people.’ He gradually
developed the qualities needed
for a life of genuine integrity.
We look to the youthful Jesus
today and find inspiration in him as he grows
in integrity at the heart of his loving family.
OUR ICON FOR THIS SEASON
During the Advent/Christmas Season we are
mindful of Mary’s motherhood. The icon of
‘Our Lady of Tenderness’ on the altar depicts
the great tenderness between mother and
crib? Both our churches
now have a unique crib in
place. The nativity scene
helps our imaginations to
focus on the reality of the
poverty into which Jesus was born.
child. It also reminds us of Mary’s
role in the Incarnation. She carries
the child who is the Word made
flesh, the glory of God in our
midst.
THE CHRISTMAS SEASON CONTINUES
Following today’s Feast of the Holy Family, our
Christmas season continues with many great
feasts. On Friday (New Year’s Day) there is
the Feast of Mary, the Mother of God. On
next Sunday there is the Feast of the Epiphany
and then the Christmas season concludes on
10 January with the Feast of the Baptism of the
Lord.
A SINCERE ‘THANK YOU!’
May we sincerely thank all who
have helped us to celebrate
Advent and Christmas at Our
Lady’s and St Ambrose’s. We are grateful for
all who prepared our Advent/Christmas
season this year, with our theme of Integrity.
We are thankful for all who prepared the
liturgies for our Advent and Christmas Masses,
including our musicians and singers. We are
grateful for all who cleaned and decorated the
churches, for our lectors, communion
ministers and altar servers.
A PERSONAL ‘THANK YOU!’
May I offer my sincere thanks to all
who, in various ways, have offered
Christmas wishes to me, Thank you
most sincerely.

SPECIAL FEAST ON FRIDAY
While this Friday is New Year’s
Day, it is also the Feast of the
Solemnity of Mary, Mother of
God. Mary has been very central
to our Advent/Christmas season
this year as we have contemplated
the image of Our Lady of
Tenderness. The Mass times on Friday will be:

9.15am at Our Lady’s

10.30am at St Ambrose’s
THE CHRISTMAS CRIB
Have you had a chance to view the Christmas
MINISTRIES FOR CHRISTMAS SEASON
Many parishioners go away for
holidays at this time of the year. So,
we ask those lectors and
Communion ministers who will be
here to check at the beginning of
Mass whether help is needed with
any ministries. Many thanks!
FR VINH IS GOING TO SUNSHINE PARISH
Fr Vinh has been
appointed as Assistant
Priest at Our Lady of
the Immaculate
Conception Parish in
Sunshine. He will be
leaving us on 3 February. Fr Vinh has been the
Assistant Priest in our parish for 18 months.
We pray for Fr Vinh as he prepares for this
next chapter in his priestly vocation.
SR JULITA TRANSFERRED TO GERMANY
After ten years of working in
the parish, Sr Julita Buss, a
Missionary Sister of Saint
Anthony Mary Claret
(Claretian), is being transferred
to Germany! We will be very
sad to see her go, as she has
been a strong presence in the
parish community, particularly
with the Italian-speaking
parishioners. For her first 5 years with us, Sr
Julita worked part-time at St Ambrose’s. The
next 5 years she worked full-time in both Our
Lady’s and St Ambrose’s communities. Julita
will continue working in the parish until the
beginning of February.
A FAREWELL AND
‘THANK YOU’ PARTY
We will have a formal ‘thank
you’ and farewell for both Sr
Julita and Fr Vinh on Sunday
31 January in Our Lady’s
Hall at 12.00 noon (and not 7 February, as
was advertised in last week’s newsletter). All
are welcome to this important event as we
thank Sr Julita and Fr Vinh for their ministry
amongst us, and wish them well for the future!
A NEW PASTORAL ASSOCIATE
Another Claretian Sister will be taking up the
role of Pastoral Associate in the parish. Her
name is Sr Marjetka Zlahtic. Some parishioners
may remember Sr Marjetka who was a
Pastoral Associate at St Ambrose’s for a short
time in 2002 before being sent to Rome to
work in the order’s leadership team. After
many years in Rome, Sr Marjetka has now
returned to Australia. She will accompany Sr
Julita on her visitation in the parish throughout
January, and will officially begin her ministry
amongst us in February.
