Teacher training school and
university
•
Given the goal of providing high-level teacher education and nurturing the roles related to it, Viikki
Teacher Training School cooperates intensively with the other university departments. Training
Schools also have the task of developing good-quality teaching and curriculum planning, in
addition to providing innovative training periods for university students and securing their
commitment to the use of modern information technology.
•
VISION AND VALUES
•
Viikki Teacher Training School provides a safe and open-minded learning environment for people
of all ages, in which everyone has the right to work in their own way. The general goal is to create
and promote a positive, collegial feeling of togetherness, and to foster honesty, respect, fairness,

Our new school building was finished in 2003. As
a learning environment, it is spacious and the
rooms are comfortable. It also offers opportunities
for leisure activities. The learning unit is the basic
working environment, comprising three or four
classrooms. There is a convenient restaurant, a
library, an IT centre, and even a gym on the
ground floor.
TRADITIONS FIRST!
•
Our institution is one of the oldest and most
traditional Finnish schools, dating back to 1869.
Traditions at best support our efforts, while they
also urge us to move forward without hesitation.
Consequently, we are constantly developing new
learning and working methods and materials. As
active members of the university, we promote
research, experimentation, in-service training and
academic teamwork. International activities,
projects and networking offer new and more
advanced learning opportunities. Sustainable
development and creativityreflect our life-styles.

genomics teams
•
MTT’s economic research supports policy preparation and decision making by
producing information on the impact and efficiency of various policy guidance
measures nationally and across the EU.
•
The research themes are economic and social issues related to agricultural and
rural businesses, food markets, agriculture and rural policy and the sustainable use
of natural resources.
•
In addition, the unit is responsible for the Farm Accountancy Data Network (FADN)
for about a thousand agricultural businesses.
•
Research into the food chain and food markets facilitates access to the market for
companies. At the same time, there is also a desire to make domestic markets
more transparent and more efficient as part of international food markets.
