sera sur Plymouth. «On a tenté d’expliquer
aux citoyens qu’on a écouté leurs préoccupations, a plaidé le maire de Mont-Royal
après une soirée houleuse devant une salle
comble qui a terminé après 23h, du jamais
vu. On a obligé le promoteur à retourner à
sa table à dessins à plusieurs reprises, souligne le maire. Le résultat est de six étages
à 21 mètres sur Plymouth et 28 metres sur
le centre d’achat. Le maximum permis
était de 35 mètre mais on a indiqué qu’on
approuverait pas une telle demande. Et sur
le centre d’achat, l’immeuble sera la même
hauteur que le SAX».
En fin de séance, une proposition du
conseiller Louis Dumont de scinder la
demande de permis de First Capital des
autres déposées par le CCU pour pouvoir
la reporter a été rejetée par la majorité du
conseil municipal.
«L’avis de motion sur le règlement qui a
changé la hauteur permise pour le bâtiment
D du carré Lucerne était insuffisant, s’est
indigné Louis Dumont. Il devait être
compréhensible pour les citoyens. La zone
203 a été divisée en deux zones A et B.
Le règlement pourrait être annulé si ça
pose préjudice. Si les résidents avaient été
informés qu’on passait à 35M, il y aurait
eu registre et référendum qui aurait forcé
le conseil à refuser».
«Comme cet avis de motion est insuffisant,
je propose qu’on reporte le vote et que M.
Verdy vérifie si l’avis de motion était
suffisant, a suggéré le conseiller Dumont».

«Une pétition de1100 signatures disent
non aux immeubles de plus de deux étages,
a rappelé M. Dumont. C’est 30% des
citoyens qui votent lors des élections.
Pouvez vous prendre des décisions en
faveur des citoyens».
«On ne gouverne pas en fonction de
l’élection uniquement», a déclaré le maire
Roy. «Je suis totalement en faveur de
ce projet de redéveloppement du Carré
Lucerne qui constituera une amélioration
importante par rapport à ce que c’était
avant.»
Pétition
La citoyenne Jane Horvat était aussi au
conseil pour informer d’une pétition de
plus de 1100 citoyens réclamant qu’on
limite à deux étages les futurs projets
immobiliers à Mont-Royal. Elle explique
en détail sont point de vue dans une lettre
ouvert dans notre édition de cette semaine.
«On a eu deux propositions de changement
de zonage, dont une ne mentionnant aucune
spécification», a révélé Mme Horvat.
«le conseil aurait été plus clair», a concédé
Philippe Roy.
«Le conseil a approuvé la demande de
permis d’un immeuble en hauteur alors
qu’à côté la proposition du SAX était
contestée, s’est étonné Mme Horvat.
Aucune réunion n’a été faite avec les
citoyens. C’est une tragédie. 94% étaient
contre ce changement, ils veulent voir
la limite de deux étages s’appliquer au
carré Lucerne. Le concept de Cité-jardin
est en train de disparaitre. Le zonage
original était de 9 mètres, on voulait une
belle amélioration et ce n’est pas ce qui
se développe maintenant. Allez vous
faire quelque chose pour répondre aux
citoyens qui veulent limiter à deux étages
les développements résidentiels?»
«Le promoteur nous a demandé deux fois
de changer le règlement, a rappelé le maire
Roy. On a refusé même si on trouvait que
c’était une bonne idée. Dans ce cas ci on
va de l’avant».
«Le carré industriel était un secteur commercial sans aucun espace vert. Le résultat
va être une amélioration».

Liberate your inner artist with Drawing Mixed Techniques

A new course being offered by TMR’s
recreation department beginning in April
invites participants to come explore their
creativity by combining collage, image
transfer and monotype with traditional
drawing mediums.
Describing the students who will be entering the course as being fairly good in
drawing already, course instructor Nadine
Bourgeois says Drawing Mixed Techniques
is a “chance for them to explore drawing in
addition to other means of expression. It’s
going to be the venue to explore drawing
with collage and painting.”
While the course might appeal to more
advanced art students, according to
Bourgeois someone who is just starting to
draw could also be interested in enrolling,
“because I will be able to provide them
help on how to improve their drawing
while also exploring other means expression.”

taught, image transfer, involves transferring a photographic or other type of image

or other physical surface.
“We’re going to be learning also about
transfer from photocopies onto paper,” she
added. “We’re going to be able to do also
image transfer with acrylic onto the support and we’ll also be able explore transparent mediums versus opaque mediums.”
While the course touches on a few areas
where technology has made inroads into
the arts, the emphasis will still be on classical technique, according to Bourgeois.
One such technique that will be explored is
monotype, a printing process involving the
use of a matrix or master plate.
The course will be taking place weekly
on Tuesdays from April 28 to June 16
from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the art studio
on the second floor of the town recreation

Un nouveau cours offert par le département des loisirs de Ville Mont-Royal en
avril invite les participants à venir explorer

Selon l’animatrice Nadine Bourgeois, le
but de ce cours est d’amener le dessin hors
de ses frontières traditionnelles en le combinant avec le collage d’images, de papiers
recyclés ainsi que le transfert d’image et
l’utilisation de média tels la gouache, les
encres et l’acrylique.
Après une démonstration du professeur
chaque participant sera appelé à créer des
images personnelles expressives basées
sur la spontanéité du geste et le hasard des
assemblages. La représentation fidèle du
réel fait place ici à l’imagination de chacun
des artistes.
Ce cours débutera à la session de printemps du centre récréatif et se donnera
dans le studio d’art les mardis de 13h30
à 16h30.

zonage mixte, est-ce que ce sera possible
ailleurs à Mont-Royal, s’est inquiété M.
Allan. Si un promoteur se présente avec
un projet comparable ailleurs, allez vous
permettre la même chose?»
«Je n’en ai aucune idée sans avoir de
projet à l’étude, pense le maire. On verra
au cas par cas».
«Est-ce qu’il y a une étude d’impact de
la circulation dans la zone Plymouth et
Lucerne», a demandé la citoyenne Brigitte
Mack.
«Oui on en a une, a révélé Philippe
Roy. On est en train de l’analyser. Selon
l’étude, le problème de trafic est nordsud sur Lucerne. L’impact des nouveaux
immeubles résidentiels a peu d’impact sur
ce trafic. On va tenter de juguler le trafic de
transit. On s’engage à diffuser les résultats
du rapport».
«Est-ce qu’il y a une maquette de
l’immeuble résidentiel du Carré Lucerne?
Vous engagez vous à la diffuser?»
«C’est le travail du promoteur de faire sa
promotion, pas au conseil ni à moi. J’ai vu
des croquis. Il a été demandé au promoteur
de divulguer ses maquettes et plans. On
peut sensibiliser First Capital qu’il y a
des citoyens qui veulent voir mais on ne
peut pas les forcer à publier d’avantage
d’information».

Opinion: By-law change in Provigo
WE WERE DENIED OUR RIGHT TO TAKE ACTION

- In October 2014 during a public meeting, the mayor advised citizens that he had
NO KNOWLEDGE of any condo/residential project for zone 203
- In the months following, the mayor
committed during a Council meeting and
then in a meeting with my husband to
bringing developers and citizens to the
table - this meeting never happened and
the plans were approved in last night’s
meeting. The mayor does not recall making this commitment.
MAIN POINT:
Bylaw change in June 2013 concerning zone 203 (Provigo shopping centre and parking lot) was made WITHOUT
PROPERLY ADVISING RESIDENTS of
the change in height and number of storeys
that the zoning change encompassed. WE
WERE DENIED OUR RIGHT TO TAKE
ACTION (here are the details of this
point):
In the summer of 2013, Mayor Roy and
Councillors of his party in TMR authorized
in a zoning change in the Carré Lucerne
Shopping mall on the corner of Plymouth
and Lucerne, allowing for the potential
construction of a 35-METER building
(over 115 FEET) at the old Provigo building location. The original height limitation
in this zone was 9 meters (30 feet)! The
zone in question is zone 203. The new
height allowance is the TALLEST in TMR
(other than the zone where the Ericsson
building is located, in the industrial section
of TMR, west side of Decarie). Zone 203
faces privately-owned residential homes
on two sides.
Not only did Council proceed with
this zoning change WITHOUT assuring
that citizens in the area were properly
informed, but they approved it despite the
fact that residents were petitioning against
a rezoning change of similar height in
the ADJACENT ZONE (further west on
Plymouth) at the very SAME TIME! This
adjacent zone is zone 701.
In the agenda for the April 2014 Council
meeting, there was an inconsistency in the
way the two zoning changes were being
presented. This inconsistency continued at
each step of the process, throughout the
months of April, May and June 2013.
Here are the sections of the Minutes of
the Council meeting held on June 17,
2013 where BOTH zoning changes were
being adopted. I ask you to note Items 21
and 23:

With the clear indication in Item #23 that
SOME change in height had just been
approved by Council, citizens were able to
inform themselves of the approved change,
a petition was initiated by the citizens
against the height increase in zone 701,
and the citizens won. The zone 701 was to
remain at 28 meters as a maximum height.
Buried in Item #21 however was an
increase in height for zone 203 from 9 to
35 meters!
There is NO INDICATION in the Minutes
that a change in height had just been being
approved by Council for that zone. Citizens
did not want a height increase in EITHER
zone, that is, it was expected that zone
203 would remain at 9 meters, and it was
desired that zone 701 should remain at
28 meters. Had it been clearly stated, we
would have KNOWN that a height change
had been approved for BOTH zones, and
the petition initiated would have included
BOTH zones 701 AND 203 at the same
time.
A little over one year later, on November
24, 2014, the Council AGAIN approved
a new height definition for zone 701,
this time changing it from 28 meters to
32.5 meters, even though the citizens had
just petitioned against an increase from 28
meters the year before (and won)! Here
is a section from the Minutes from THAT
meeting (note Item 23):

As you can see and
could probably guess:
With the clear indication AGAIN in item
#23 that SOME change in height had just
been approved AGAIN by Council, citizens were able to inform themselves
AGAIN of the approved change, a petition
was initiated AGAIN by the same citizens
against the height increase in zone 701, and
the citizens won AGAIN. The zone was to
remain at 28 meters as a maximum height
AGAIN.
PROBLEM: CITIZENS NEVER HAD A
FAIR CHANCE TO SPEAK OUT
AGAINST THE JUNE 2013 HEIGHT
INCREASE IN ZONE 203 (the mall area).
Unfortunately, we remained completely
oblivious to the new height definition
in zone 203b until november 2014, as
residents were searching through existing
town documents for information regarding
more development plans for the quadrant
and possible continued impact on height
definitions.
In an attempt to voice opposition to the
height increase in zone 203, and prevent further high-rise development in
the quadrant, a petition was initiated by
TMR residents in November 2014, and
in a door-to-door canvassing effort of
over 350 homes, 530+ signatures were
collected, representing over 93% of the
homes canvassed. These signatures were
presented to Council in December, but
to no avail. With the advent of our cold
winter, an on-line petition was launched
in February.
Our petition has surpassed 1100 signatures so far and counting, between what we
have collected on-line and on paper. We
continue to see over 93% compliance
with those canvassed. Residents want to
limit further development on the areas of
Plymouth and Lucerne which flank the
mall to TWO storeys. At a minimum, the
rezoning should have been reopened to
ensure that citizens would have a chance
to respond to the change.
Not only did Council disregard the fact
that the citizens’ petition is against more
condo development in the quadrant (after
SAX-3 and SAX-4), but the building they
approved at its LOWEST POINT will be
as tall as SAX! AND there will be a tower
that will rise 6.3 meters HIGHER!!
AND the new building will sit up against
the sidewalk as the new Pharmaprix is
doing.
Any TMR resident that would like to add
their voice to the ongoing petition, calling
for a halt to further condo development in
the quadrant (after SAX-3 and SAX-4) can

Scumbag Renovations: “We’ll work you over
and empty your pockets - our guarantee!”

This is a cautionary tale to reno-virgins. You
own a house or condo but don’t know how to
change a lightbulb without threat of electrocution so you hire Reno Guy. TMR streets are
lined with their trucks. Hoping to cut costs in
the dead of winter, you find a guy via recommendation from a dotty senior lady with a
hefty Trust Fund and moderate-to-advanced
Alzheimer`s. TMR his prime hunting ground
of Divorced Rich Ladies with old houses or
old ladies with deep pockets.
So what’s my excuse.
The ugly triple-belly, dim-witted, tattooed
circus freak in an unmarked van with headlight
missing, pulled into my driveway. Reeking of
booze. Blame it on burn-out, the coldest winter
on record, Isis in Iraq...but when he staggered
out, I the progressive, politically-correct
woman on a tight reno budget thought, “OK,
so he`s not perfect...”
Wrong answer. One month and many cashed
cheques later, I`m still debating whether to
take him to Court or church, waste more timemoney waiting 2 yrs. for a hearing in Small
Claims while he basks on some foreign beach
with no address. Or Plan B: let the Hounds of
Rev. Que., Consumer Affairs, Corporation des
maitres electriciens, plumbers and mechanics,
savage him for me and other reno-virgins. I
pay property taxes; let them shred the creep.
I’m opting for Plan B initiated Friday but
readying for the tsunami to follow.
Here`s how it began in January: “Scum-Bag”
or S.B. Reno (Sam B), worked over my senior
lady neighbor who never noticed thanks to
those deep pockets and dementia. My problem
was small pockets and desperation. Around
Christmas as we know, my independent mother, age 94, was hospitalized for 2 months after
a fall and reluctantly reduced to a walker. Since
she owns her own home, a 2-level cottage with
no intention of moving to a residence, I was
delegated to look after it in her absence and
decided to “surprise her” with some necessary rehab-renos. The ergotherapist`s ominous wish-list included: double-rails on stairs,
walk-in shower, louder doorbell-phone-fire
alarm, thresholds removed, etc. “or she’ll fall
again.” A butler was optional...
To say that Mother wouldn’t recognized her
house, is understatement.
Since most licensed renovators working in
TMR consider this a small job they “might”
fit in “sometime next autumn,” I got zero callbacks after dialing all week. I was burned-out
running back-forth between houses and hospital in Siberian weather, and remembered Sam.
Reached his lousy rhyming voice message: “Ìf
ya need a plumber, that’s a bummer, but here
comes Sam, I’m your man.” i.e. if ya’need a
scam, I’m your man. I was desperado.
SB called back immediately. (Bad sign.)
Could start “tomorrow” (Worse sign.) Arrived
at Mother’s house early the next morning, grubby claw extended for the hefty
deposit. No idea who was the stringy haired
ex-hippy tagging along answering simply to
Slug. (Spoiler alert: Slug will come out smelling like vanilla cappuccino when this rancid tale ends one month later).
At least I had the lucidity to draw up a
detailed contract which shifty-eyes SB reluctantly signed. I thought I was covered. Three
decades as property owner and two divorces
later, I felt empowered. Wrong again.
Think nightmare where you`re running in
place getting nowhere with rabid Dobermans
breathing down your neck. Invoices approx.
$2000, additional bills and “labour” piling
up, tax included, no receipts for supplies, you
take-his-word that he has a “special deal.”
Somewhere. You know it’s left-overs from
other jobs and Reno Depot scrap, but you grin
and pay since--time’s running out and he’s the
only guy you could find who didn’t ask for
your first-born son in exchange.
SC knows you’re cornered, locked in a silent
game of circling each other. He’s watching
you, “stupid woman.” You’re watching him,
“stupid scumbag.” Who’ll-get-who.
Let’s start with those “safety rails” up to
the bedroom level: an entire slow-day to
install something that resembled a barn stall
with unvarnished wood planks simply nailed
to the wall. A child`s tiny fingers couldn’t`t
slip around it let alone my mother`s. I`d reach
his plumber-bummer voicemail, followed by
a reply on mine:”You’re modder must have
fatso paws...!” he chuckled into the receiver. I
failed to see the humor in my “modder” flying
head-first down the stairs again.
SC & Slug (who was doing most of the work)
would spend most of the next day - slowly redoing the rails (but not to the basement and
garage) and recounting tales of personal drama
meant to endear: SC was on his third wife, the
previous two died under what sounded like
dubious circumstances, etc. But instead of more
alarms going off, I shrugged it off, that I`ve
been overdosing on cop shows, Meanwhile,
SB was double-charging for labour and damaging the walls which would have to be
“replastered at a later date”. Days pass into
weeks of delays with Mother’s release date
imminent. Snowstorms... he`s sick... Slug’s
sick... I’d ask SC to check the Maytag dryer
in the basement which would smell like a BarB-Q when he finished. “It’s OK. You’re just
paranoid.” And handed me another bill. PS:
rails to the basement ? “Later.”
Finally D-Day. We come to the piece de resistance: toilet. “Gotta check that antique,” he
sniffed. The bathroom sink and toilet, except
for an old rubber plug, were working fine
before SC & Slug arrived. Not after. Mother
would be greeted with a flood on her first night
home. Pipes burst. Around midnight I’d get her
panicked call: “SOMETHING HORRIBLE IS
HAPPENING IN MY HOUSE!”

It was becoming a familiar pattern. Crossing
town in a snowstorm around midnight with
Fire Dept. and Public Security banging on
Mother’s door: ”Doorbell’s not working,
Ma’am.”
I KNOW!
The “louder” doorbell SC installed was silent.
The toilet he “verified” flooded causing water
damage to lower level ceiling and stairs.
“We’ll have to change the whole damn thing,”
his estimate. “NO!” was mine. Mother with
her walker and I with a pail would end up
mopping for three days, no further reply from
SC . No rails to the basement either. His
plumber-bummer message was like that horrid
tune that crawls into your head and--you can’t
get it out!
Echoes of Slug’s Famous Last Words after
checking that basement Bar-B-Q clothes dryer
before they left: “I’d call a Maytag repair guy
if I were you. Don’t smell right.”
Fact: I had no address for Scumbag. His business card listed only a cellular and “office”
with that voicemail. Nor did my neighbor. No
place to serve him with a subpoena.
But a felon always trips up somewhere. He’d
finally answer my call but pushed my wrong
button. “You’ll never find me...” he snarled,
unaware the Hounds Of Hell look like puppies
when you push my wrong button. Then made
his other mistake: threatened to unleash his
“high-flying brother-in-law” if I came after
him, and mentioned his name. A matrimonial
lawyer I happen to know. We now had a
name and address. I`d cross check with said
lawyer and Consumer Affairs who confirmed
SC’s lair was in the woman’s name. Wife No.3
was either anaesthetized or brain dead when
she married Scumbag Sam.
Enter Hounds of Hell: Rev. Qc & Canada,
Consumer Affairs, Corporation des Maitre
electriciens, another that deals with plumbers, etc... You need patience for this. It
took me days of being put on-hold, then to
detail everything in a registered Letter of
Notification plus copies of everything also
sent to the above mentioned government offices who deal with terrorists and Scumbags,
assured me in rather hushed tone, “This will be
handled in a confidential manner.”

cardiac arrest. Baths, showers now have the
same effect. I hate dishes. Paper plates will
do. Ditto for the phone. I have Phone Phobia,
still haunted by “SOMETHING HORRIBLE
IS HAPPENING IN MY HOUSE!”
However, I do feel - somewhat - empowered.
If poorer. It’s not about me but my mother and
other seniors targeted by predators. Scumbag
Reno Guy underestimated this reno-virgin
from hell. I’ll be his worst nightmare. Sue
him for actual and punitive damages, while
the above nab him for tax evasion, fraud, and
give him a new voice message: ”If you need a
plumber, its a bummer/ cause he’s in the slammer, minus hammer.”

THE HIGHER THEY COME, THE HARDER THEY FALL
However, it was troubling to hear that a
man of his professional caliber and high
esteem could demonstrate such poor judgment in his own life, with tragic consequences.

Open letter to the Honourable Minister
of Justice Peter MacKay:
As a concerned and informed Canadian
citizen, I am somewhat disconcerted with
Minister MacKay’s recent statement re. former Quebec Judge Jacques Delisle accused
in 2012 of murdering his handicap wife
Nicole Rainville in 2009, and trust the
Minister will be mindful of the below in his
decision to grant Delisle, age 79, a re-trial,
this after the Supreme Court ruling.
Re. Minister MacKay’s statement that
Delisle’s current request is a “rare instance
and certainly an unusual circumstance”:
It may be “rare” since he is the sole
Canadian Judge to be accused of murder
but the circumstance is not. The annals
of crime indicate that “mercy killing”
or “assisted suicide” for some adulterous
spouses has long been an alternative to a
costly divorce. Delisle, an admitted twotiming cheater, was convicted of the premeditated shooting of his wife partially
paralyzed following a stroke, and ready to
run off with his younger secretary. Various
appellate courts and Supreme Court of
Canada have upheld the decision of life
incarceration. His sole remaining recourse
Judge Delisle was one of my Judges in
the Court of Appeal (2005) in post divorce
litigation, who ruled in my favor and I won
my case. Therefore, my present observation is in no way based on personal bias or
resentment, on the contrary. He was fair in
my case.
is the Minister of Justice. His present
lawyer Lockyer maintains that Delisle’s
“failure to testify played a huge role in his
wrongful conviction.”
Perhaps, but that was Delisle’s choice to
deceive and not because the Jury erred.
Fact: Delisle’s actions were callous and
well premeditated; as a criminalist, he
knew every possible angle. He lied, refused
to testify so as not to trip-up his alibis,
and now hopes to introduce it as “new
evidence” in wake of the recent Supreme
Court rulings on assisted suicide. Also, in
a last ditch effort, he now drags his family
into his sordid lie.
This is not “new evidence” but evidence
he willfully withheld in the arrogant belief
that he, a prestigious Judge in the Quebec
Court of Appeal, was somehow above the
law and would be liberated. Furthermore,
the recent CBC interview with Delisle was
a pathetic performance and unconvincing

status and personal wealth, Delisle wasn’t
thinking with his head but trousers. With
his wealth plus hefty salary as Judge, he
could easily have placed his incapacitated
wife in a luxury full-care facility, and filed
for divorce as millions do. However, delusional as to his lofty status and powerful
legal friends, he hoped to avoid the cost of
a messy divorce and run off with his “secretary.” As result, the mother of his children-- an innocent woman-- is dead, and
he deserves to remain where he is without
further waste of Court time and tax-payers
money.

La nuit du 24 au 25 août 1944, le sort de
Paris est entre les mains du Général Von
Choltitz, Gouverneur du Grand Paris, qui
se prépare, sur ordre d’Hitler, à faire sauter
la capitale. Issu d’une longue lignée de
militaires prussiens, le général n’a jamais
eu d’hésitation quand il fallait obéir aux
ordres. C’est tout cela qui préoccupe le
consul suédois Nordling lorsqu’il gravit
l’escalier secret qui le conduit à la suite
du Général à l’hôtel Meurice. Les ponts
sur la Seine et les principaux monuments
de Paris, Le Louvre, Notre-Dame, la Tour
Eiffel, sont minés et prêts à exploser.
Utilisant toutes les armes de la diplomatie, le consul va essayer de convaincre
le général de ne pas exécuter l’ordre de
destruction.

Les élèves de l’École Mont Royal exposent leurs œuvres à la Bibliothèque VMR
Trayan Kasimir Spiridonov, Jacqueline
Phung. La composition surréaliste este
présente par le travail de Meklit Shiferaw,
Kenza Bousliman, Afnane Ourraiss, Dinu
Delia, Daria Mytnik, Mohammed Oharb,
Mostafa Taleb, Rim Azmi, Anabelle-Meta
Wafuana. Il ne manque pas de merveilleux dessins d’oiseaux de Katy Pham et
Thartshaini Karthigersar. La maitrise des
ombrages en dessin est assuré par Arina
Maria Nogai. Il ne pouvait pas manquer
la nature morte sensiblement dessinée par
Gayel El-Hage. Le design de voiture a
été fait par Nikol Glushkov et Kousalya
Kanagasundaram. Et qui de plus sensible
sujet que les fleurs? présenté par Fatine
Harroud et Leewanda Tang.

Modest Bursucianu artiste peintre et
professeur a l’École Secondaire MontRoyal propose aux résidents amateurs
d’art de la V.MR de visiter une exposition d’exception. Réunissant les œuvres
d’une trentaine d’élèves, l’exposition en
cours fait réfléchir et peut même étonner
le visiteur quant au niveau atteint par ces
jeunes exposants de 14-15 ans dans le dessin d’observation et dans la composition.
On nous propose différents thèmes dans
une technique unitaire: le dessin au crayon.
L’initiateur de cette exposition, le professeur d’art Modest Bursucianu croie profondément assister au vrai début artistique pour la plupart des ces jeunes. On
peut remarquer les merveilleux dessins de
chevaux réalisés par Xénia Beltei, Lyna
Boulajfane, Vanessa Guerrero ainsi que
les portraits de Shelly Gel, Beatrice Ling
Delcourt, Bianca Teodora, Valère Fotso
Kouam, Hanin Fakih, Yi Heng Wang,
Selim Ghosan, Amanda Langlois-Johnes,
La passion
d’augustine
L’exposition se poursuit jusqu’au 9 avril.
On peut visiter l’exposition durant les
heures d’ouverture de la Bibliothèque. du
lundi au jeudi de 10h à 21 h, le vendredi
de 10h à 18h , le samedi de 10h à 17h et le
dimanche de 12 à 17h (sauf les journées
fériées de Paques). D’autres participations
a des expositions à Montréal sont en
vue pour ces jeunes artistes d’exception.

Lysandre Ménard, Diplômée de l’École de
musique Vincent-d’Indy et enseignante au
secteur Musique pour tous, en vedette dans
le nouveau film de Léa Pool, La passion
d’augustine.
Le dernier film de Léa Pool, écrit avec
Marie Vien et produit par Lyse Lafontaine
et François Tremblay, met en vedette
Lysandre Ménard, pianiste diplômée du
secteur collégial de l’École de musique
Vincent-d’Indy, qui campe le rôle de la
jeune virtuose, Alice.
Lysandre Ménard, également enseignante
au secteur Musique pour tous de l’École,
partage l’écran dans cette production
québécoise avec Céline Bonnier, qui y
tient le rôle-titre de Mère Augustine, et
une distribution complétée par plusieurs
comédiens de renom.
Dans le cadre de ce long métrage, certaines scènes de la maison mère et du
bureau de la Générale (interprétée par
Marie Tifo) ont également été filmées dans
les murs de l’École de musique Vincentd’Indy, un établissement historique témoin
d’une grande tradition musicale.
Synopsis – La passion d’Augustine
Simone Beaulieu, devenue Mère
Augustine, dirige avec succès un petit couvent sur le bord du Richelieu. Passionnée,
résiliente, Mère Augustine met toute son
énergie et son talent de musicienne au
service de ses élèves. Lorsque sa nièce
Alice lui est confiée, c’est non seulement une nouvelle pianiste prodige qui fait
son entrée, mais aussi une jeune femme
dont les aspirations sont au diapason de
l’époque et qui rappelle à Mère Augustine
un passé qu’elle avait cru mis de côté
définitivement. L’école, malgré sa petite
taille, est un joyau musical qui rafle tous
les grands prix de piano. Les murs respirent la musique. Matin, midi et soir, du
grand couloir à l’escalier principal, résonne
un flot de gammes, d’arpèges, de valses
de Chopin et d’inventions de Bach. Et, à
défaut de prier, on chante!... Mais lorsque
le gouvernement du Québec instaure un
système d’éducation publique au milieu
des années soixante, l’avenir de Mère
Augustine et de ses Sœurs est menacé.
