横浜市、待機児童ゼロ目前 課題はコストと保育の質
横浜市の林文子市長(66)が公約に掲げている「保育
所の待機児童ゼロ」が目前に迫っている。平成22年4
月には全国の自治体で最多の1552人だった待機児
童数は、積極的な施策の推進で24年4月に179人ま
で減少。ゼロ達成後も新規転入などで再び待機児童が
生まれることは確実だが、短期間での成果に他の自治
体の関心も高い。一方、経費の増大も課題で、今後は
経済性に配慮しながら保育の質を高めていく必要があ
