Learning from others

Even when walking in a party of now more than three I can always be certain of learning from those I am with. There will be good qualities that I can select for imitation and bad ones that will teach me what requires correction in myself.

Day 2: Education It is only the ignorant that despise education.

How you dress reflects on the way you do everything.

If you are going to play the game properly, you’d better know every rule.

Goals

I grew up in circumstances that really should have prevented me from being here today, but I knew my mind could take me anywhere.

Day 6:

Choices

Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice.

Day 7:

Golden Rule

We should behave to our friends as we wish our friends to behave to us.

Day 8:

Self-Responsibility

Parents can only give good advice or put their children on the right path, but the final forming of a person’s character lies in their own hands.

Perception

As a man is, so he sees.

There is no greater disaster than greed (or as the Japanese say it: He who knows not when he has enough, is poor).

Persistence

Fall seven times, stand up the eighth time.

We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but we have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers (or as the Chinese say it: All under Heaven. One family.

Whatever you do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.

You are the best…our hope for the future; remember that!

There are three kinds of people in the world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen and those who say “What happened?”

The direction in which education starts a man will determine his future life.

Good people are good because they’ve come to wisdom through failure.

If a man does not keep pace with his companion…perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music he hears, however measured or far.

Taking Action

It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena.

Most of the things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.

You must be directed to work…single-minded… and be productive. But you don’t mind because you are fulfilled and productive.

It makes a great deal of difference in the life of a race, as it does in the life of an individual, whether the world expects much or little of that individual or of that race.

Overcoming Loneliness

To have a friend, be a friend.

Day 30:Choices • Every great mistake has a halfway moment, a split second when it can be recalled and perhaps remedied.

Day 31:Cleanliness A pure heart is a good thing, and so is a clean shirt.

Day 33:Caring All children are essential to America’s future. We don’t have a child to waste. We will not be a strong country unless we invest in every one of our children.
