Thanksgiving story and
traditions
In 1620 a group of people named the
Pilgrims, moved to America
They sailed on a boat called
the Mayflower. There were
110 Pilgrims.
The first winter was very hard. It was very
cold and the Pilgrims had no food.
Only 50 survived
The next year, they met an Indian named
Squanto. He spoke English and helped the
Pilgrims to survive and to work the new soli,
to grow corn and pumkins, to know animals
as the turkey
The Pilgrims decided to celebrate the rich
harvest and invited the Indians . The
feast lasted 3 days.
In 1863 Abraham Lincoln declared the 4th
Thursday of November as national
festival for Thanksgiving
Today on Thanksgiving day , American families
come together to have a big feast. They eat
turkey, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce,
vegetables and… pumpkin cake.
