Regional Commissioner Susan Rossetti [email protected] Regional Registrar Ursula Grove [email protected] Coach Administrator: Steve Grady [email protected] AYSO Mission Statement To develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on our six philosophies: Everyone Plays Balanced Teams Open Registration Positive Coaching Good Sportsmanship Player Development The AYSO Family PARENTS REFEREES KIDS COACHES AYSO Board/ Volunteers Coach Training Requirements • New Coaches: You must complete an AYSO Safe Haven Course (once) • New Coaches: You must attend the coach training for division you are coaching • Returning Coaches: If you are moving up to a new division (i.e. U8 to U10) then you must attend the coach training for that division (i.e. U10) – Applies to moving down too • All Coaches: Must take CDC concussion training annually. Ensue you fill out the certificate and print before closing the web page. You will have to take the training again. Provide copy of training certificate to your division coordinator. • All Coaches: MUST have a current volunteer form on record (annually) Coach Training Requirements o U-5 & U-6 Coaches Attend U-6 Coach Course (On-Line) o (Plus a 1.5 Hour Field Clinic) o U-7 & U-8 Coaches Attend U-8 Coach Course (On-Line) o (Plus a 1.5 Hour Field Clinic) o U-10 Coaches Attend U-10 Coach Course o (a 2 hour Field Clinic) o U-12 Coaches Attend U-12/Youth Coach Course (5 Hours) o U-14 Attend Intermediate Coach Course (15 Hours) o U-16 Thru U-19 Coaches Attend Advanced Coach Course (18 Hours) Steve Grady: [email protected] Safe Haven Training Only need to take it once, but it is a good idea to take a refresher if you haven’t taken it in a while. 1. Click on the Management Tab and select Course “ASYO’s Safe Haven" Concussion Course Training • Each year all coaches and assistant coaches must take the concussion training and print their certificates and give them to their coordinator. • http://www.ayso.org/resources/safety.aspx – The Center for Disease Control (CDC) Concussion information • CDC Heads Up Online Concussion Training Coach Administrator Points • EBOPSP – Everyone will play and an attempt will be made to equalize time – equal time means that different players will start from week to week and an attempt will be made to get different players the extra quarter from week to week • EBOPSP – Good Sportsmanship – Show it and teach it! • Do not run up the score – no matter how strong your team is, try to keep the goal difference less than 3 Coach Administrator Points (continued) • No dissent with referee – If there is an issue with a misapplication of the Laws then coaches can write an email to Martin Draper or Tim Malone and they will make sure that the referee understands the laws so that the correction is made for the future. Everything else is a judgment call! • All injuries that keep a player from returning to the game need to be reported to the RC • No jewelry at practices as well as games. • ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR SHIN GUARDS DURING ALL PRACTICES AND ALL GAMES! National Weather Service Huntsville, Alabama Quick Lightning Facts • The most dangerous times are before/beginning and at the end of a storm. • Lightning kills more than tornadoes or hurricanes nationally. • If not killed, can injure or cripple for life. • No place is safe outside in a lightning storm! Lightning Deaths Since 1995: Alabama ranks 6th Tennessee ranks 17th. Lightning Safety: It’s a Smart Game Plan! • Reducing risk is the best plan. • If lightning is seen or thunder heard, go inside safe shelter. • Hard topped vehicles are safe. Open air shelters are not. Pick a Designated Weather Watcher What to Look For? • Building or darkening clouds (thunderheads) • Storms can develop fast, so take action early. • If it is raining, someone should check radar or have a weather radio or radio nearby.
