AYSO Region 498 2015 Spring Season Meeting http://www.ayso498.org/ Agenda 6:30 P.M.- 7:30 P.M. • General Meeting • Division teams meeting Regional Board • Commissioner: Susan Rossetti [email protected] •Coach Administrator: Steve Benson [email protected] •Referee Administrator: Martin Draper [email protected] •Registrar: Ursula Grove [email protected] •CVPA: Lisa Sheffield: [email protected] •Safety Director: Patrick Streeter [email protected] •Treasurer: Crista Green [email protected] Season Calendar • • • • March 9, Monday: Practices Start this week March 14, Saturday: First Games April 4,(Easter weekend): No games May 16: Last regular season games Rainouts will not be rescheduled AYSO Mission Statement To develop and deliver quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on our six philosophies: Everyone Plays Balanced Teams Open Registration Positive Coaching Good Sportsmanship Player Development Coach Administrator Points • EBOPSP – Everyone will play and an attempt will be made to equalize time – equal time means that different players will start from week to week and an attempt will be made to get different players the extra quarter from week to week • EBOPSP – Good Sportsmanship – Show it and teach it! • Do not run up the score – no matter how strong your team is, try to keep the goal difference less than 3 Coach Administrator Points (continued) • No dissent with referee – If there is an issue with a misapplication of the Laws then coaches can write an email to Martin Draper he will make sure that the referee understands the laws so that the correction is made for the future – Everything else is a judgment call! • All injuries that keep a player from returning to the game need to be reported to the RC • No jewelry at practices as well as games • ALL PLAYERS MUST WEAR SHIN GUARDS DURING ALL PRACTICES AND ALL GAMES! Coaches • You are our connection to the players and parents! • You have all the interaction with our audience (the kids)! • You need to be the first line of information dissemination! – Info distribution list; add players only w/parent approval • Do NOT leave the field until all players have been picked up • Only registered AYSO players may participate in practices and games Coaches • Contact your parents ASAP • If you do not get email reply w/in one week…call! – Inform coordinators of no contact • Check for signed concussion forms • Player Forms – They must be with you at all games and practices – Make copies if needed • Start recruiting your two referees – Games will be cancelled if no ref is signed up Friday evening • Social Media…use common sense – Ensure parents know ALL activity Coach Training Requirements • • • • • New Coaches: You must complete an AYSO Safe Haven Course (once*) 1. Go Online to http://www.aysotraining.org/ 2. Log in with your ASYSO ID number and last name 3. Click on the Management Tab and select Course “ASYO’s Safe Haven" New Coaches: You must attend the coach training for division you are coaching Returning Coaches: If you are moving up to a new division (i.e. U8 to U10) then you must attend the coach training for that division (i.e. U10) – Applies to moving down too All Coaches: Must take CDC concussion training annually http://www.aysotraining.org/ (The only way to get credit) All Coaches: MUST have a current volunteer form on record (annually) * If you took the old Safe Haven, you need to update Coach Training Requirements • U-5 & U-6 Coaches Attend U-6 Coach Course (On-Line and Field work) • U-7 & U-8 Coaches Attend U-8 Coach Course (On-Line and Field work) • U-10 Coaches Attend U-10 Coach Course (On-Line and Field work) • U-12 Coaches Attend U-12/Youth Coach Course (5 Hours) • U-14 Attend Intermediate Coach Course (15 Hours) • Must have U12 • U-16 Thru U-19 Coaches Attend Advanced Coach Course (18 Hours) • Must have Intermediate Coach’s Training Classes 1. You can use any shirt that color. Please make sure that there are no names on the shirts. Referee Administrator Martin Draper Philosophy of Refereeing • Fun • Fair • Safe Referee Courses On line: http://www.aysotraining.org Classroom: Tobacco and Alcohol Policy Section E article 8 of the AYSO National Rules and Regulations: “Present a healthy, athletic environment for players by, in the case of coaches and referees, neither consuming alcoholic beverages nor using tobacco products during practices or games or in the immediate vicinity of the soccer fields.” This includes the parking lots Weather on the Soccer Field “If you can see it, flee it. If you can hear it, clear it” Three Types of Weather Heat: • Hydration is critical • Shade • Share…sportsmanship! X Storms: • Have a plan!! • Building or darkening clouds (thunderheads) • Storms can develop fast, so take action early • If it is raining, someone should check radar • Obey field closures • Pick a designated weather observer Cold: • It will be colder during tournaments • Have kids bring appropriate clothing – – For the game More important for after!
