NOVEMBER 2013 – NEWSLETTER UPDATE! A quick update to the Library News this month to let everyone know that the search for Pupil Librarians is finally over! I had a huge response and I am so pleased at the amount of children interested in the Library and becoming a helper. It’s always tough deciding who to interview and then choosing the successful candidates. There was actually a very high standard of applicants so it was tough competition for everyone that was interested. Thank you to Mr Odgers and Miss Morris for helping out on interview day and well done to everyone that held their nerves through their meeting – you all did incredibly well and should be very proud of yourselves indeed. However, just like any interview, not everyone can get the job so to those that didn’t make it this time, please remember to re-apply next term, still come and visit the Library as much as you can and keep your eyes open for future events and activities that you may like to be involved in. To those that were successful, I am looking forward to getting to know you all better and helping you learn about the Library while we make changes together for the benefit of everyone. So for those that don’t yet know, the 10 Pupil Librarians are: From Year 5, Lottie Chapman & Macy-Jane Mold From Year 6, Zoe Langford & Emilie-Min Davy From Year 7, Andrew Aldis & Chloe Ainger From Year 8, Amy Lambert, Imogen Dickerson, Kane Good & Joe Powell. Well done everyone! So to the users of the Library, you will see these people at lunch and break from now on, wearing their Library Assistant badge (proudly, I hope!), checking your books in and out, keeping the Library tidy and being available to help you wherever they can. The Pupil Librarians will treat you with respect and kindness and I expect them to be treated the same way in return. I have said it before and now they are all ‘official’ helpers, I will remind everyone again that should a Pupil Librarian ask you to do something, be it changing over on the computers, pushing your chair back in, tidying something away or following the Library rules, then you will do as they ask just like you would if I asked you myself. The Library is a cheerful, friendly place for everyone to enjoy – and I expect the same level of respect and kindness from Pupil Librarians as I do from all of you when visiting the Library. So thank you again to everyone that applied and I hope you will all support the Pupil Librarians while they learn all about their new responsibilities.
