The Chinese came to the USA

1840: A small number of Chinese began to
arrive
Most of them came from southeastern China
When jobs were advertised for people to build
the railroads, many more Chinese began to
arrive
1882: 40,000 people entered hard work for very
low wages
They fought for jobs
On the way to the USA



The way was hard
and very difficult
Some of them died
because there were
lots of illnesses which
they didn´t know
There were other
temperatures, too,
which were hard for
them
