Thomas Berry Educational Center
as FrancisEmma, Inc.
envisions Ways to Educate through
the emergence of New Narratives
of Eco Justice ©
of Social Justice
Narratives that support its Purpose to
promote an education ministry in concert with the vision and mission of
FrancisEmma, Inc.
create a broad-based and multiaged educational service site as envisioned
in the FrancisEmma Comprehensive Plan (2003, 2009).
develop an ecologically-sound education plan that promotes an ethic of
ecojustice© and social justice in concert with Gospel values and the
mission of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament.

GOALS of the Thomas Berry
Educational Center
provide a place at Belmead on the James where quality programs of ecojustice©
and social justice are conducted for interested persons.
create a resource center where research, dialogue, and reflection are
encouraged.
support activities that enhance ecological, creative, literary, historical, cultural,
and experiential endeavors.
encourage written documentation of scholarly activities and publication.
offer content-specific learning opportunities for students which emphasize
creativity, skill acquisition, critical thinking, problem solving, independent
thinking, recognition of similarities/differences, and alternative thinking
proficiencies.
build a standards-based curriculum that uses Earth-Centered ™ theory, a holistic
and developmental philosophy and psychology, and an integrative thematic™
curricular design appropriate for differentiated learning.
