1923 Fuel Cell Ford Model T Project
picture1
Objective:
To build a hydrogen/electric fuel cell hybrid vehicle by converting a gasoline powered 1923 Ford T Bucket vehicle, using the batteries as primary power, and the fuel cell as a range extender.
Goals
Vehicle Goals 70 mph average highway travel speed 100 Mile Range using fuel cells 30 Mile Range on Batteries Fuel Cell will act as a range extender
Energy Dynamics of Electric Vehicles
Fuel Cells will act as range extenders
Project Goals Battery Electric completion ~ June 2006 Travel to Rhode Island State House, Roger Williams Park/Zoo, Local Sponsors, and Washington, D.C.
Advocate hydrogen fuel cell technology
While on our travels…
We plan to visit a hydrogen refueling station in Washington, D.C
Technical Data
Fuel Cell Hydrogenics HyPM12 Proton Exchange Membrane 12 kW Fuel Cell Measures 37.72” L x 20.24” W x 14.25” H Weighs 211.64 lbs
The hydrogenics HyPM12 12 kW fuel cell is very versatile, operating between 50-104 degrees Fahrenheit, as well as being built for mobile operation and to handle several of nature’s abilities such as humidity and heat.

But….
This project isn’t only made possible by the previously mentioned sponsors. It is made most possible by the dedicated team of support and enthusiasts that operate continuously both behind the scenes and publicly.
This FCT is still a work in progress, and it seems like we are ‘over the hump’ and each task completed makes us closer and closer to finishing the goals we have set.
In Conclusion…
Building a street legal Hydrogen Fuel Cell/ Battery Electric vehicle will promote effective, clean, renewable energy and demonstrate to all that it doesn’t take millions of dollars to create a cleaner environment, but the willpower and perseverance to make it happen.
