Who Are We? • 2 Sections in Central Office Estimates: – Preliminary Estimates section provides QA and expertise to District Estimators. – Estimating Systems Support section provides technical support in the usage of the 2 estimating systems used by the Department: • LRE • TRNS*PORT ESS Staff and What We Do • Dale Stanley – LRE Administrator and ESS section Manager • Paul Herring – C.O. Applications Manager and Security Coordinator for TRNS*PORT PES & CES and Web Interface • Melissa Hollis – Basis of Estimates Coordinator • Tyrone Ware – LRE and TRNS*PORT support • Dorothy Tyndall – Training Support Paul, Melissa and Tyrone all provide support for the Master Pay Item File What Do We Do for You? • Coordination between user community and programmers • User support for estimating systems – Ensure that systems are working properly to meet your needs; – Represent FDOT’s interests in prioritization of future changes to Trns*Port software. • Training TRNS*PORT Support • Liaison between users and programming staff – Identification of system errors – Identification of needed enhancements – Testing of system upgrades • Monitor userids and roles • Coordinate with system developer (Infotech, Inc.) in the prioritization of enhancements and in guiding the future direction of the TRNS*PORT software. • Provide training to District estimators Web Interface Support • Maintain Master Pay Item List • Coordinate with programming staff in the development and maintenance of programs to assist designers: – – – – – Designer Interface Project Edit Report Pricing tools Summary of Quantities Cross-reference Systems Interaction LRE FM Work Program TRNS•PORT Web Interface DSS database LAS TRNS*PORT CES TRNS•PORT PES Helpful Hints • Verify the letting date and Spec Year (this information is shown on the project summary, above the project’s category list in the Designer Interface). Helpful Hints • For new projects, verify the letting date and Spec Year (this information is shown on the project summary, above the project’s category list in the Designer Interface). – For projects let through 12/2006, the pay item Spec Year (and Master File) will be ’04; – For projects let on or after 1/2007, the pay item Spec Year (and Master File) will be ’07; – If the letting date and Spec Year are not correct, STOP! Contact the Project Manager and/or District Estimates Office. Helpful Hints • If you are updating a project: – First, run a Project Edit report – If the report shows pay Items are now invalid: • Check the BOE to identify replacement items • Check the Master File to see if replacement items are included – If the replacement item is not in the Master File, you will have to request it: • E-mail your Project Manager and/or District Estimates Office with items that need to be opened. Include: – Project Number and Letting Date – Pay Item Number and Description – Your Name and Contact Number Helpful Hints • Update your project to include the new item(s): – Update your project through the Designer WebPages. – Run a Project Edit List, as well as a Project Summary / Proposal Summary. • Note: If you have made changes to the project and they do not appear on your summary, contact your District Estimates Coordinator (he/she will need to run a process).
