WOOD R&D programme
a joint initiativet between
Innovation Norway and The
Research Council of Norway
established to achieve synergy
between innovative development
work, applied research and basic
research
 The programme based on
strategies prepared jointly by

Intentions for BIA
be an active partner in further developing
the knowledge intensive Norwegian industry
engage in the best innovation projects
mobilise industry to increased R&D
investments
finance large ambitious projects
stimulate networks between sectors and
scientific disciplines
Important characteristics for BIA projects
Research-based innovation
High potential for value creation
Competition based on quality
Public investment must be vital for realisation of the
project
Target groups:
Existing industry.
“The best companies in existing industry shall become even
better.”
New industry.
”Opportunities for new companies with exceptional
ambitions for R&D to realise projects ideas.”
Centres for Research-based
Innovation (CRI)
designed to fund long-term research conducted in
close cooperation between Norway's most
research-oriented companies and its most
prominent research communities.
centres will be funded for five to eight years at a
support level of 50 per cent of their total operating
costs
the target group is research-intensive companies
and dynamic research groups whose collective
long-term research agenda focuses on generating
expertise and solutions of the highest international
calibre
SFI awarded to Construction
Industry
COIN - Concrete Innovation Centre (v/SINTEF)
The aim of the centre is to become a leading actor in
concrete research in Europe. New advanced materials,
efficient construction technology and new design concepts
based on environmentally sound materials, shall be
developed. Fibres shall replace steel reinforcement in many
constructions.
Structural Impact Laboratory - SIMLab (v/ NTNU)
The aim of the centre is to establish technology platform to
develop safe an cost effective construction. The ability of
light constructions to sustain impact loads is a core
challenge.
The Norwegian tax
incentive scheme
Incentive to improve the R&D and
Innovation
Covering all enterprise sizes, all types of
companies and all types of projects
18-20 % tax deduction for companies
getting project approval by RCN
A great success !!
