Noah’s Ark
Genesis 6:1 – 9:17
God looked down at His people and was very disappointed. The people on His earth
were cruel and bad. All except one – his name was Noah. God decided to send a flood
to wash away all the bad people. He told Noah to build a big boat so that he and his
family would be saved from the flood.
God gave Noah a very important job. He asked Noah to save all the animals of the
earth from the flood. Noah searched everywhere to find two of every kind of animal.
All of the animals came to Noah’s ark and entered, two by two.
After all the animals were in the ark God shut the door and the rains began to fall.
Pitter, patter, splish, splosh! It rained for 40 days and 40 nights. The ark floated on the
water and all the high mountains were completely covered.
After the rain stopped, Noah opened up a window and let out a raven. But there was
no dry land so the raven flew back to the ark. Then one day Noah sent out a dove. The
dove came back with an olive leaf which meant the waters had gone down. A week later
Noah sent out the dove again. This time the dove didn’t return, there was dry land
again!
Noah, his family, and all the animals were on the ark for 370 days! When the earth was
dried up enough God told Noah that everyone could get off the boat.
Noah was so happy that God had saved him and his family that he built and altar and
thanked Him. When God saw what Noah had done he promised Noah that he would
never again flood the earth. Then He gave them a sign for everyone to see this
promise. He put a rainbow in the sky and that's to remind us of the promise God made
to Noah, to the animals and to us today!
