What is CyberPredators? Online Predators?
•
Adults who try to take advantage of kids by pretending to be friends when they really
have bad intentions.
•
They try to get personal information like where you live or go to school by lying and
deceptions.
•
They try to meet kids through chat, instant messaging, email or social networking sites.
•
They often lie about their age and pretend to be young, often as young as the person
they are trying to contact.
•
They try to make friends through attention, affection, kindness, and even gifts, and
often devote considerable time, money and energy to this effort.
•
They know the latest music, games, and hobbies likely to interest kids.
•
They listen to and sympathize with kids’ problems.

Why is it bad to make friends with
CyberPredators?
• They are strangers.
• You’re not old enough to talk to strangers or get into a car with
someone you don’t know.
• It is hard to tell the difference between a potential friend and a bad
adult though online communication.
• Consider this: cyberpredators can be very patient. Some will
maintain a false identity for weeks while they build up trust.
• Some very smart kids have believed cyber predators lies and
become victims.
