Regionalism can be defined as a consciousness of a loyalty to a distinct area within a country usually characterised by common culture & language or historical and social background.

Giving under importance to one’s own region at the cost of the integrity and unity of the country leads to regionalism.

 Regional disparities in development  Border issues  Sharing of resources  Political vested interest  Administration problems due to size of the state
