3-D Printer Fabrication System

 Use a 3-D printer to fabricate solid parts.

  Instead of dispensing ink at the designated locations printer would dispense a material that will fabricate a solid part.

Use STL solid model, analyze structure and information then generate appropriate code for printer to create solid object.

 Sponsor: Dr. Panos Shiakolas, UTA Mechanical Engineering professor (note: similar project suggested by Sabreen Alabedredha).

1

Blood Pressure Monitoring System

 Develop a blood pressure tracking system using standard home blood pressure monitoring device  Add WiFi capabilities for remote recording.

 Provide website to track/measure BP.

 Provide security of data transmissions and secure access to information.

 Sponsor: Heracleia lab (Dr. Makedon), local physician/medical professional (project conceived and suggested by Ian Jungmann)

1

Rehabilitation Exercise Assistant

   Develop a “game” to measure and quantify the movements of disabled people as they engage in rehabilitation activities Develop a set of exercises to address various body areas, such as fingers, arms, upper body, neck, etc.

Work with the CSE HERACLEIA Lab to select devices to record and analyze exercises  E.g. computer, tablet, and/or the physical world (via CAVE, Kinect, etc.)  Sponsor: TBD (possibly HERACLEIA Lab)

1

Mobile Home Doorbell

 Develop a system that notifies remote user via smartphone when their doorbell rings.

 Integrate camera, microphone and speaker to allow remote user to interact with the person at the door via their phone.  Add website to record/store information for remote access.

 Sponsor: TBD, possibly home security specialist (project suggested by Juan Duarte)

1

Sight by Touch Suit

  Develop a suit of clothing that detects objects and pulses its wearer to indicate direction and proximity Product could be useful for the blind, or other applications where the wearer might not have full vision (dark environs)  Sponsor: Paul Sassaman, plus suitable external advisor
