• Vaccine effectiveness among children aged
> 18 months old was estimated at 94.6%
(95%CI, 79.6%-98.6%)
• With adjusted effectiveness was 97.50%
(95%CI, 88.60%-99.50%).
• 15% of cases were children under 18 months
of age.
Concerns for JE vaccines in Thailand
• Inactivated mouse brain derived
 Limited duration of the induced protection
 Need for multiple doses
 Adverse events: rash, severe AEFI-rare (potentially
fatal acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and
hypersensitivity reactions)
• Insecure procurement
• Limited suppliers (mouse brain derived)
• Domestic source--GPO (GMP concerned)
