the development/enhancement of a technological
infrastructure that supports student engagement,
success, convenience and excellent customer service.
Recommended Strategies– Technological:
• Develop a marketing/communications /messaging
strategy
• Maximize ASAP as a resource for student
information (e.g. student bill screen)
• Integrate SDS database with Student Information
system
• Create a web-based entry portal on the SDS
website
Recommended Strategies– Technological:
• Develop on-line pre-orientation modules
• Promote Degree Works (DW) Planner & Degree
Audit
• Utilize EAB-Student Success Collaborative
• Promote EARN, UTSA’s early alert program
• Automate numerous academic processes
• Provide adequate training to all

success and a superior student environment
Strategic Direction
The University will pursue initiatives that facilitate
the development of a campus infrastructure that
supports student safety, success, convenience and
engagement/interaction/connection.
Recommended Strategies– Physical
Environment:
• Provide more late-night and weekend dining
options
• Develop University housing that meets the
needs/demand of a broader range of students
• Pedestrian walkways that connect the campus,
encourage walking and promote safety
Recommended Strategies– Physical
Environment:
• Lighting that encourages people to gather and
interact
• Promote bicycles as an alternative form of
transportation
• Develop more high quality study space for
students on campus
• Develop/enhance civic spaces that encourage
student interaction/engagement
Recommended Strategies– Physical
Environment:
• Develop practice fields and a building for athletic
teams at the Park West Athletic Complex
• Assess and determine status of Convocation
Center
The aforementioned recommendations are
interconnected across the various initiatives
within the Superior Student Experience pillar as
well as across the other five pillars of the 2020
Blueprint.
