GLAST LAT Project Software Workshop 15-18 July, SLAC G4 EM validation Check Gleam in detail Complete geometry validation Sim/Recon Prep for DC1 Onboard filter embedded Event classification in output stream Start engines Capture classification trees Prelim PSF, bkg rej Sources ready for test Final PSF, bkg rej Sources ready for use Dec Nov Oct Sep Aug Jul Pointing info in Gleam L1 content definition Create L1 FITS files Scope out DC process Proto Pipeline in place Stress test pipeline 7-18-2003 Final Data Run GLAST LAT Project Software Workshop 15-18 July, SLAC Validation • G4 – List of physics processes to test is in place • Should be prioritized – First pass through basic expected in mid-August • Geometry – TKR nearly done; CAL mostly done – ACD needs first validation • Tile positions updated; ribbons next • Detail still needed on blanket & electronics, but we are probably ok for now • Then schedule review Gleam – Bill’s work has shown that a more detailed set of sanity checks is needed – He will make a basic list of checks to make then we would like volunteers to examine them – Still need fix to MC pruning mechanism! • GLAST LAT Project Software Workshop 15-18 July, SLAC Towards Creating IRFs • Bill back in the business honing and training the classification trees – We expect frequent generation of AllGamma and ever-larger samples of background events (O(40M)) • Steve et al working on embedding onboard filter – Just about ready for test now – Still adding TDS diagnostic output • Toby et al working on capturing the trees in Gleam • Need Gleam algorithm to collect system-wide event info to finishing characterizing the event • Create L1 db info list and output in FITS (at least) files GLAST LAT Project Software Workshop 15-18 July, SLAC Getting the Challenge Input Together • Toby et al are on task for fixing the current round of source bugs and then will validate (with Steve and DavidW) the collection of background sources • We should identify all the steps in the DC1 prep process – Selecting sources and transients – What output files to create and how to hide the truth Processing 400M Events • Now have promise of OPUS srouce – Should see rapid development of pipeline • Negotiate with SLAC Computing Center (and Lyons?) – CPU Cycle allocation • Start stress tests in ever larger bkg runs
