Validation
•
G4
– List of physics processes to test is in place
• Should be prioritized
– First pass through basic expected in mid-August
•
Geometry
– TKR nearly done; CAL mostly done
– ACD needs first validation
• Tile positions updated; ribbons next
• Detail still needed on blanket & electronics, but we are
probably ok for now
• Then schedule review
Gleam
– Bill’s work has shown that a more detailed set of sanity checks is
needed
– He will make a basic list of checks to make then we would like
volunteers to examine them
– Still need fix to MC pruning mechanism!

Towards Creating IRFs
• Bill back in the business honing and training the classification
trees
– We expect frequent generation of AllGamma and ever-larger
samples of background events (O(40M))
• Steve et al working on embedding onboard filter
– Just about ready for test now
– Still adding TDS diagnostic output
• Toby et al working on capturing the trees in Gleam
• Need Gleam algorithm to collect system-wide event info to
finishing characterizing the event
• Create L1 db info list and output in FITS (at least) files
GLAST LAT Project
Software Workshop 15-18 July, SLAC
Getting the Challenge Input Together
• Toby et al are on task for fixing the current round of source
bugs and then will validate (with Steve and DavidW) the
collection of background sources
• We should identify all the steps in the DC1 prep process
– Selecting sources and transients
– What output files to create and how to hide the truth
Processing 400M Events
• Now have promise of OPUS srouce
– Should see rapid development of pipeline
• Negotiate with SLAC Computing Center (and Lyons?)
– CPU Cycle allocation
• Start stress tests in ever larger bkg runs
