Introduction
Project Overview
Why should NWACC be involved
in this project?
 Computers in student computer labs at NWACC
are not used 24 hours a day. Each computer
could be helping to unravel disease information
while they sit idle.
 The protein folding program can also run while
students are working on projects with no
discernable interference.
 Using the program would benefit mankind as
well as help NWACC use its resources efficiently.
Community Aspects of the

Objectives of Project
 Gather Data
 Figure out the cost

1 computer running 24 hours with
Folding@Home and FahMon uses 1.40KW
That’s a difference of .36 KW
Costing no more than 11cents per KWH.

Project Results
 In 4 months, with 12 computers, I was able to
move team NWACC_East_Empacts from a
team ranking position of 145,081 to 3862;
completing 1348 Work Units for a points total
of 313,909.
 The results are truly untold as to how much
this has contributed, but if 1 cure is found, Is it
not worth the cost?
Project Ideas for Future
∆
Continue present project. Takes a few minutes to keep each
computer setup after updates or power loss.
∆
Incorporate Every computer at NWACC. There has to be well
over 200 computers sitting idle daily.
∆
Increase the student knowledge of how to utilize their
personal computers in helping with this project.
∆
Determine if NWACC is capable of utilizing this technology for
other projects.
