What Is a Communication
Strategy?


1. Problematicity: Strategies are adopted
when problems in either learning or production
are perceived and may interrupt communication.
It is not part of the routine operations of
language use.
2. Consciousness: This refers either to the
learner‟s awareness that the strategy is being
employed for a particular purpose, or the
awareness of how that strategy might achieve
its intended effect.

3. Intentionality: This refers to the
learner‟s control over those strategies so
that particular ones may be selected from
the range of options and deliberately
applied to achieve certain effects.


Strategy involves choices
Strategy involves goal setting
The central question executives need to ask is:
"Why should we communicate?" Inevitably, this
leads to setting communication priorities. Unfortunately,
most discussions of communication never reach this level,
and implicit or ill-conceived objectives underpin the
strategy.




Effective communication strategies to
productivity gains, efficiency
improvements, cost reductions, improved
morale, and decreased turnover.

An effective strategy shapes organizational
memory
- The communication strategy has a great
deal to do with how events will he
remembered, which in turn shapes
employee responses.
