Sampling Protocol
• Using dropper pipette, extract 1mL
from petri dish
• Place 1mL sample into petri dish lid
• Place lid and sample on top of graph
paper and view under stereoscope
• Count hatched naupili
• Multiply total number of naupili from
sample by 30
• Repeat 3x for each culture/petri dish
• Average results for each culture and
post results.
• Use class averages to support/refute
conclusions
• Clean out dishes, remove labels,
place in wash bin (center island)
